What is funny is how he said he doesn't even know why he got a drive through penalty, yet we don't know why the hell he hasn't gotten a more serious penalty...I said it before and I will say it again, before long, he'll end up killing someone because of his stupid style of driving...Sir Frank needs to understand Driver Safety > Money

I think the same.He will also believe he's right and the others are wrong, everyone should let him pass by and else. Also FIA should consider giving him a harder penalty for continuing those mistakes, like withdrawal. Will he be that harsh again?I don't think so.

ESPNF1; Pastor Maldonado believes the mistakes he has made since the start of the season have been normal for a young driver coming through the ranks in Formula One.

Maldonado impressed when he won the Spanish Grand Prix earlier this year but a series of mistakes and penalties have prevented him from scoring a single championship point since. But Maldonado does not see the mistakes as abnormal, although he insists he has been learning from them to improve his consistency.

"They're normal mistakes," he told GP Week. "If you look at other drivers, they've done the same in the past.

"I think for sure we've not been consistent. At the beginning I made a couple of mistakes, like in Australia when I was sixth I think and crashed on the last lap. Before this season, though, after the horrible year last year, we didn't expect to win.

"We've been not always at the top but near the top especially since Barcelona. I just need to be focused for the second part of the season and keep our target for the car. We just need to recover, put everything together, and we haven't the last few races. We need to learn from the mistakes."

Asked if he'd built up a reputation as a bit of a crasher, Maldonado said: "Before I won the race [in Spain] nobody was here [interviewing me], now everyone is here. This is racing, you know. I made a couple of mistakes, that's it. I will try to do my best as always. Sometimes it hasn't worked out as I expected, but the important thing is we're very quick and we must stay like that."

I just read that. He really needs some help. Mental help. Not for his sake, I don't give a damn if he crashes himself into a picket fence, but for the sake of all the other drivers racing with him.

For shure they did the same

I have seen another news about him promising to try to recompense the lost points at the crashes in the first half of the season. The title was:''Maldonado believes he will recompense the loss'' That's like :''What loss? So,he will crash into the rest of the grid and finish it all.''

Maldonado shows off to his home fans in Caracas

While the world of sports seems to have taken a fortnight off to watch the Olympics, there has been little time to rest for the Williams team which is spending the week in Venezuela on a publicity trip to meet fans of Pastor Maldonado.

Maldonado is joined in Caracas by Sir Frank Williams and the highlight of the visit will come on Sunday when Maldonado will drive the car round the capital city's national monument, Los Proceres, in front of a crowd expected to number around 20,000.

"'I'm a proud Venezuelan and I can't wait to return home on the back of my win earlier this season at the Spanish Grand Prix," Maldonado said. "I've always received lots of support from my fellow countrymen and this trip is an opportunity to give something back to those in Venezuela who have helped me get to where I am today.''

"We receive fantastic support there," Williams said. "With the various events planned this is our chance to bring the excitement of Formula One closer to the fans and thank those who continue to support us.''

planned 'hero's homecoming' Formula 1 street demo for Williams driver Pastor Maldonado in the Venezuelan capital Caracas was cut short on Sunday when he spun and damaged the car on only his second lap.

Maldonado, visiting his home country for the first time since becoming Venezuela's first grand prix winner, was due to complete a 12-lap run on the Fuerte Tiunas military parade ground in front of 20,000 fans and numerous political and military VIPs, with team owner Sir Frank Williams and shareholder Toto Wolff also present.

But Maldonado was caught out by the extremely bumpy surface of the show ground and spun his Williams FW33, damaging its suspension on the roadside kerbing.

The run had been planned as the highlight of a day of national sporting celebration, during which Venezuela's top sportsmen, including Olympic gold-medal winning fencer Ruben Limardo and IndyCar racer EJ Viso, were paraded before the assembled crowd.

However, fellow PDVSA-backed driver Rodolfo Gonzalez saved the situation by performing an eight-lap demonstration run in his GP2 car.

A violent electrical storm shortly after Gonzalez completed his demo ended thoughts of repairing Maldonado's car to resume running.
