And I've watched that movie already, as I'm intelligent enough to compare both jokers only if I've seen both in action. Nicholson did a solid job for that movie in particular, but Ledger's was easily better.

Jacks joker was too much pantomime for me, it fitted with the rest of the movie but would have been ridiculous in Nolans batman and vice versa, Heath's joker wouldn't have fitted with the visual comic style of Burtons. Nicholson could probably have played a joker to suit but it would've had to be different from how he played it in Burtons. This argument doesn't really come down to which actor is better at playing the part, they both played the part to fit into the movie they were in.
