Agreed. As I've said in the other thread, Bernie should threaten to ban F1 from racing in Spain for 10 years unless the racism is stopped.

Why does Spain get to have 2 GPs anyway? Bring back Imola!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Besides that was a great track with many great races (except for 1994 when the deaths of Ratzenberger and Senna happend).

It'd be nice to see Imola back on the calendar, but sadly the circuit isn't quite the same it used to be before that terrible weekend.

I'd like to see old classics like Estoril and Hermanos Rodriguez back on the calendar instead, both are far more exciting circuits than Crappy-lunya.

It gets two Grand Prix because Alonso is twice world champion. It's why Germany got two Grands Prix for so long as well, with the Schumacher effect. I agree with you about Imola, and other tracks in general in fact. Catalunya is boring and should be taken off the calendar and replaced with a decent circuit. Valencia should be good. I'd rather it be Spain's Grand Prix.

If the Hamilton effect really takes off, I hope we get British GP's. Silverstone and either Brands Hatch or Donnington would go down a treat.

It certainly helps the future of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Whether or not Ecclestone would have taken it off the calendar pre-Hamilton was uncertain, after all, Britain is one of the countries you most associate with motor racing, but if Hamilton remains a top-drawer driver, Ecclestone may decide it's worth putting up with the poorer facilities for longer (not that they're bad anyway).

Agreed, the facilities are alright. Perhaps Bernie being a fellow Brit as well just wants Silverstone to be the best circuit in the world and is using these "threats" to get his wish. The track is definately one of the best despite the chicanes and slower corners put in over the years, but it's still fast. I would like to see the old Abbey Corner back though as part of the F1 configuration - it's still there, but not used in F1.

I find it to be a very sad incident for humanity in general, I find any form or fashion of hatred or descrimination, to be very disheartning but also realize that it is something we will never be rid of.
I would like to see some sort of statement from Alonso to the spanish fan's concerning this incident.

It wont affect Lewis if thats what they're after. He grew up on a British council estate attending a British comp school A few nutty Spanish hurling racial abuse over a fence will be water off a ducks back to him. But I guess thats beside the point, racism should be stamped out, it discredits the whole sport and particularly Spanish supporters (the vast majority of whom would be equally sickened by these actions). Lets hope Max decides to follow through with his threats of removing Spanish GP's unless it stops. Mmmm. would he though????

I agree. It's the same with other older tracks as well, like Spa or Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve. As a spectator you get a really good view and atmosphere wherever you are with the real fans, not the toffs in the VIP box who care for nothing for the sport, save for the bottom figures on a bank statement. Istanbul Park is like modern-day football stadia: the fans are so far back from the field, they can see damn all.

And also the atmosphere is so crap the home fans don't make any noise, just like the Arsenal fans at the Emirates Stadium when I went there in 2006.

My local football team have a pretty old stadium, with two shed-like sections. Even though they may have only two thousand people in them, the atmosphere is electric. We also have terracing behind both nets, one of which has a grass bank. In the summer months, nothing beats lying back on the grass in the sun and watching the game with your mates (and Jennifer Love Hewitt, in my dreams) . In short, say "No!" to new stadia!

Most of these "new stadia" are all boring flat, dull, tedious bowl shapes as well, the worst offender is the Walkers Stadium in Leicester, the Circuit De Catalunya of English football grounds ie. BORRRRRINNNNG!
