Didn't Hamilton speed under yellow flag at the last race in Valencia? Was he penalized for that?

Maybe FIA is working with McLaren to help him win!!! :banghead:

Total bull...

He did a 33.3 in that sector while Kimi, Maldonado and Massa did 33.8 so seems to be clear as day.

Alonso did something like 33.304 2 laps before and his next lap was overall faster so I'm guessing he probably didn't set his fastest final sector on the last lap.

Goes back to what I was saying. 2 good sectors and a slower one.

C'mon guys this is nonsense, you can't set a lap good enough for the top ten while under yellow flag. All this talk of sector times muddies the waters. Alonso went fast enough to qualify and faster than other cars in the same sector went a minute earlier, with no flag. QED

No it doesn't muddy the water, cause the sector time is the one single key thing here, the only thing that matters. If he set a sector time that wasn't his best, it would suggest that he backed off in that sector for yellow flags. The first two sectors are irrelevant cause there were no yellow flags there, how can you not see that, he was just very fast in them and it made up for the loss in sector 3.

Anyway, that was a bloody entertaining quali, the race promises to be just as nuts and i can't wait.

I'm not usually someone to stick up for Alonso, but the track was drying, his two first sectors were fast and he slowed for the third yellow sector.

Anyway, its my 4th full day here, and I'm a little sick of the rain now. Especially when it seems F1 cars are too delicate to race in it. Are they made of paper???

They red flagged it when it wasn't actually raining that hard, and then wouldn't restart until the rain had stopped and the track was merely damp. Wtf is that about??

You said he did 33.3 in the final sector, what time to the 1000ths? 2 laps earlier he did 33.304, the lap after that he improved overall so may have been quicker still in that sector.

It's not just the sector time that's taken into consideration. Some sectors can be very long, so it's the section of the sector that has the yellow in place. So the question is did he slow down in that section. Regardless, water under the bridge, nothing will be done because it wasn't a Ferrari or a Red Bull getting nipped out of 10th spot. It was a good qualifying session, and I even got time to flick back and forth between that and the Tour. Lazy Saturday morning indeed.

Obviously he did nothing wrong otherwise his times would have been dropped or whatever. The stewards will have seen the telemetery, simple as and end of.

Any morons who want to talk about Ferrari International Assistance should refer to Spain where Massa got a drive though... for going too quickly past yellows. *facepalm*

C'mon Michael...

:D

Yay, Denthúl's in the house! Welcome back. :drink:

:wavey:

I didn't mean to be gone for so long but this year hasn't exactly been kind to me. :(

Anyways, looking forward to the race tomorrow. Definitely hoping for some rain because it will really make things exciting.
