Any thoughts on who is going to win wimbledon? I'm hoping it's Murray to win, and a british driver to win Silverston so we can say "see, we still win occasionally" with pride rather than lies.

However if Federer wins and alonso wins, with spain being the ultimate foot ball team winning everything, there we be no other time in history when one nation has ever been so smug.

To be blunt, I couldn't give a monkeys left knee cap about the ping-pong.

The F1 and MotoGP are where it's at this weekend. Looking for a Vettel win at Silverstone. Would love a Rossi or a Crutchlow win at the Sachsenring but it'll probably be a Stoner or Lorenzo win but hopefully it'll be a good race.

Us lot up here have been smug for a while. We have all the oil! :hehe:

I was just informed Federer is Swiss and it's Ferrer who is Spanish........

Never been a big fan of Motobike racing, but I would love to see either of them win, especially after Rossi decided that he would change to an inferiour team and bike just to show national pride, that takes balls, courage and a lot of booze to make that decision.

They would have if independance was granted back in the 60's. Heck, this place would be like Monte Carlo but due to the unique way our politians minds work, they now really really want independance when the country has nothing going for it. :irked:

Technically Scotland has very little oil....

Didn't they find, just north of the Shetland Islands a reserve of more oil than has ever been extracted in history, and is now possible to get to?

It's fantastic to see Murray breaking into the final, brilliant times! Fingers crossed.

McLaren winning at Silverstone would make my day too. 8-)

BP operate 3 installations to the west of Shetland. One is a platform named Clair and two are FPSO's named Foinaven and Schiehallion. The Clair field is starting to be extended over the next few years. There seems to be some exploration nearer the Faeroh Islands at the moment but I'm not sure who is carrying out this work.

And no I didn't use Wikipedia or the tinterweb to find out this info.

Didn't Henman get into the final once? Or was it a semifinal?

Anyway I liked seeing Henman play, one of the old school players and was sorry he didn't achieve what he set out to do in his career. Still a great player though.

I don't like Murray though, so hoping for a Fed victory.

I think that Henman managed quarters and semi's just about every time but never made the final; but I am not 100% on that, I'm not much of a tennis fan!

Actually, the last time a Briton played in the final at Wimbledon, was 1977 (the Queen's silver jubilee year) & she won, her name was Virginia Wade. That doesn't get a mention though, by anybody.

Anyway, come on Murray, pull all the stops out & do yourself proud.

That's because they've been speaking about the mens final. I like they way that he's a Brit as far as the English based media are concerned but as soon as he looses I guarantee he'll be referred to as Scottish. Happens all the time.

Anyway, lets steer this thread back to a real sport - F!. :D

This thread is about tennis and F1, so it is on track.

Plus, tennis is a real sport...if it's too complicated for you to understand doesn't make it fake.

See our F1 related articles too!
