Happy birthday suitcase,I have been wondering what happened to her,it has been a long time..

If you send someone a PM it should send an automated e-mail telling them they have a PM.

I tried that with Robert12010, but to no avail. :(

He uses Twitter a lot... If it is who I think it is

There's only one way to contact people in DD's dungeon. . .

Yup - quite a few skeletons in my closet. Suitcase was particularly tasty

In seriousness, I agree with the sentiment, maybe we need a reverse introductions section, at least we'll know what's going on, and it gives us a chance to "talk" them out of it.

 That's a novel concept, a reverse introduction. Is that like forgetting your ever knew somebody?

You mean a goodbye thread, in which people can try to talk potential leavers out of it? There's a fair few of those in the Forum & Website Issues section, mainly around late 2009, when times were pretty darn turbulent round here.

Stupid idea! Members are free to come and go as they please. If someone wants to leave the forum then they'll leave. It'll just be an invite for some members who have not got on with the member who is leaving to post comments along the lines of "Don't let the door hit you on the way out" or have some sort of final attack.

That's a shame. If they want to return to the site I guess they will eventualy. You just got to hope that someone your were pals with comes back one day.

I move that this is stricken from the record, the the gentlemen imprisoned under suspicion of being a revolutionary.

There won't be any obligation to use it, just as there isn't any to use the introductory thread, I'm sure some members won't, but it'd be nice I guess. And if a member felt they had to leave due to other users on this site, it might be good for a thread (tightly moderated) that gives them a platform to state that. And for other members perhaps to show alternative perspective (surely attacks, finial or otherwise are already strictly banned on this forum, a "reverse introduction" thread won't be any exception).

Would create unnecessary drama, guaranteed.

I have split and moved these posts from the Happy Birthday thread as it was going to hopelessly derail the birthday thread!

PM'ing someone doesn't necessarily Email the user, it can be turned off in user preferences and people change Email addresses frequently.

Situations change in peoples lives, and things fall by the wayside, I have walked away from forums because it no longer suited my needs more than the people that posted on the forum!

Pretty damn turbulent? Well I'll be shaved by a nutter barber, I would not have thought such a thing possible...

Apologies. I was just making the point that goodbye threads are nothing new. :)

Exactly... those who were members then will remember all the controversy caused at the time, probably the worst i ever saw on here in my 4 1/2 years posting here. I would rather not have a repeat of that myself. :P All a bit unnecessary too, in my view.
