- 24 Jan 12, 08:20#288736Time to revive this thread with some serious info. Last year lewis had a nightmare season and jenson drove out of his skin exploiting all possibilities available to him and making hardly any mistakes. Respect. That said you may be suprised at a few statistics, which Im afraid Ive pinched from someone who is much better at interpretting data graphs than me.
Overall Hamilton out qualified Button.
Hamilton led more laps than Button.
Hamilton led Button for 5 complete races (6 but for 1 lap at Korea).
Button led Hamilton for 3 complete races.
Also...
Hamilton overtook his team mate more times than any other driver (7)
Hamilton had 1 pole position, Button had 0.
Hamilton out qualified Button 13 times to 6.
Both drivers had 3 wins.
Button had 11 fastest laps, Hamilton had 8.
Both drivers had 3 overall fastest laps.
Button finished ahead of Hamilton 10 times, Hamilton ahead of Button 9 times.
Button had 17 points finishes, Hamilton had 16.
Button had 12 podiums to Hamilton's 6
Button finished 3 places and 43 points ahead of Hamilton in the WDC.
So. Not as clear cut as the final result might suggest. Hamiltons podiums(only6 to Buttons 12) is probably the crucial statistic that goes against hamilton. Even with the mistakes by hamilton and poor quali calls from his side of the garage, his statistics are comparitively good.
