No it didnt. The only time there was any investigation into team orders at Mclaren it was concerning favouring Alonso at Monaco. They were exonerated on the grounds that the strategy they used was neccessary at that track.

I dont want Lewis favoured(for the hundredth time!!!)

I'm far from convinced. Both drivers are on equal terms and you're not happy.

Maybe we should check with Heikki Kovalainen about team orders and which driver got the updates and new parts first.

So you've changed your stance, from McLaren dont favour drivers, to they do favour drivers, to the point of giving one poorer equipment :yikes: Thats quiet a turnaround. So you can accept Lewis having favoured parts and strategy( which he didnt). Yet you can't accept a team manager unable to hide his preference for one driver. Very strange.

McLaren dont give preferential equipment to one driver over the other. I'll tell you what Mclaren do. They try their utmost to provide upgrades for both drivers, if they cant the upgrade goes to the driver leading the championship at the time. Lewis knows that. Jenson knows that(they both confirmed it and are happy with it) and no doubt Heikki new that.

My issuue isnt that Jenson is getting better parts. He isnt. My issue is Whitmarsh.

Coulthard seemed to think there was an emotional (if not a practical) favourtism towards Mika and Kimi when he was a McLaren driver. But maybe he would say that as an excuse for not being able to match their pace and acheivements?

Maybe this year Lewis has felt there has been more emotional favourtism towards the other side of the garage this year. Or maybe he has just been particularly needy of emotional support?

Perhaps Heikki never felt the emotional support of the team was never really with him during his time at McLaren? Or perhaps he just wasnt quick enough to warrant it?

My stance has remained the same throughout this thread but nice try there Racechick. Whitmarsh has not favoured either of his drivers to this season and has treated both equally. Under Ron Dennis they did, that was very clear and goes back to the days of Senna and Prost where he was supposedly closer to Senna.

I've not said that Button has had new parts first. As far as I know this year both drivers have always had equal equipment. It is true that under Ron Dennis Kovialainen did suffer when it came to upgrades and it was widely reported at the time.

Why is it that you only point out my spelling mistakes and seem to ignore others? Have you ever considered that there may be a reason behind what is perceived to be poor spelling on the anonymous medium of internet forums?

The key thing is that emotional support for the drivers is most likely to come from the team principal and thus is very must a reflection of the relationship between driver and team principal.

Yes. I agree with you.

Do you have an example of Lewis' fault (beyond all reasonable doubt) and where Whitmarsh has backed him to the 'hilt'? This is mostly your perspective, as all the incidents this year have been controversial. Controversial doesn't have to mean conclusive/agreeable. (key bit for you and the other haters)

Why is it when anyone says anything even slightly critical about Hamilton they are labelled a "hater" yet the same people act pretty much the same towards other drivers and start crying when they are called "haters" themselves?

FYI, I'm an F1 fan above team and driver preferences so even putting my dislike of Hamilton, Button and McLaren aside it is painfully obvious that Whitmarsh has performed very professionally and as he should do as a team principle, though no doubt if the driver positions were reveresed this discussion/thread would ,in all probibility, not exist.

Try watching the season again from an unbiased point of view and you'll see that the claims of McLaren/Whitmarsh favouritism are total and utter bovine manure.

This will put the cat amongst the pigeons; there was a rumour that McLaren deliberately sabotaged JB's KERS to slow him down to allow Hamilton to win...

Yes, it's ridiculous but that's no different to the talk in this thread about favouritism by Martin Whitmarsh at McLaren...

This was probably a joke which got out of hand. And I dont believe anyone claimed that Hamilton was getting sabotaged or was not getting the same equipment, more like the team boss seems to be leaning towards the idea of Jenson taking the lead role in McLaren. Which is not the case...he's probably having to back Button a bit more as everyone in the world keeps telling Whitmarsh "Hamilton is definitely faster but....".

This is the Lewis hamilton support thread, primarily it is about Lewis. If you wish to question McLaren's treatment of drivers and give your theories about inequality of equipment and treatment throughout it's history, then you need to find somewhere else to do it. In this thread try to restrict your negative commenst to Lewis...Im sure you wont find that too difficult.

but......he goes too far. When Button started out in that team needing some reassurance that McLaren always have equality for its drivers, it was fine. But two years on he's taking it to excess. Button is well established and doing fine. Slavering no longer needed.

Well the last few pages have been about McLaren management of their drivers and it's not just me that's been discussing this so why single me out - seems a bit unreasonable doesn't it? You could move the posts to your other thread. Just a suggestion.

I dont think anyone else has been discussing anyone other than Lewis, Whitmarsh and Button except you. Anyway, I didnt say that in 'mod' mode, I said it as me. I dont think the posts need moving because the conversation will lose meaning if that happens. But if you want to get into Mclaren not providing parity for drivers, thats a whole different issue and would be better in its own thread. Incidentally I believe Lewis is receiving parity. Thats not my issue.

I think you'll find they have been but if you're just going to single me out then that tells me all I need to know.

This is getting really silly. I said I wasnt speaking as a mod. You are the person Ive been arguing the toss with over the last few pages. I havent gone back over the whole 40 odd pages in this thread, so you may be right, others may have siad something in those pages. I am not singling you out. I'll rephrase. If anyone wants to discuss general McLaren driver management, not pertaining to current drivers, it may be better in its own thread rather than in the Lewis Hamilton Support thread.
