If it was illegal then where's the penalty? Schumacher was asked to calm down or he would get a penalty - seems fair to me, as long as this sort of discretion is used again for other drivers if future races.

To be fair, Hamilton has been penalised for much, much less. I wanna say this happened during the Turkish GP.

I don't think that's to do with the driver, it's just different stewards having varying interpretations of the rules. This is exactly why I have been saying for years that they shpuld have the same stewards at every single race.

True, didn't mean to imply it was an "it's hamilton" thing. Just saying your "If it was illegal, where's the penalty?" point isn't exactly valid.

About Hamilton: I think he had a relatively bad start. If he'd jumped forward things would've been quite different. Also, Alonso showed off one of his typical skills: Seeing a hole in a group of cars and diving right in.

About stewards: We all know there's ZERO consistency from race to race, which is totally stupid.

This is true with judgement calls in any sport. All you can do is feel your way through each particular contest, and take advantage as much as possible. Just like Schumacher did yesterday. That's the sign of an experienced sportsman.

He was being over cautious. That's what you get after a series of crashes. See... Vettel or Alonso didnt need to be so careful.

It's easy to say now that the McLaren's should have set up the cars with longer gears, but who would have honestly thought they'd have been competing with Schumacher instead of a Red Bull? It's common knowledge that McLaren isn't going to make up any ground in the Championships by worrying about the other teams. They HAVE to go after Red Bull, otherwise they might as well just give up.

Besides the stewards being different, so are the tracks. These moves were able to get pulled becasue it was Monza (and the DRS gave not much advantage, and there's not too much aero advantage to enter-exit corners etc). On many other tracks, Lewis would have gotten him after a couple laps at the most.

I'll be honest I am glad to see no penalty. I like that kind of racing. It wasn't dirty like when he crowed rubens into the pit wall.

If we had one set of stewards for all races, we'd get consistent decisions. But, they might be consistently good decisions, or perhaps we'd get consistently bad decisions. But my main worry would be that we'd get consistently utterly insane decisions.

Exciting, good racing, whatever you call it, it was a clear violation of the rules and Schumacher got away with it. Water under the bridge and Lewis handled it well... so I'm having a hard time understanding why there's an argument surrounding this?

You'll never catch me complaining about drivers being too aggressive. Now there have been times where I think Hamilton made really stupid choices on when he decided to move in for an overtake, which is different than not being ok with people racing dirty.

Hamiliton @ monaco 2011= aggressive, but not dirty. Stupid, but not dirty.
Vettel @ turkey 2010 = agressive, not dirty, but also stupid.

I did criticise Hamilton at Monaco; not because of his driving; but because of his reaction in front of he TV cameras; blaming other drivers, "he turned into too early"; for me it was a robust slamming of the door to a aggressive move up the inside; this is motorsport; not overtaking on a motorway. I see the Schumacher/Hamilton battle at Monza as the same thing, just that Lewis was more more cautious! You just have to read my signature to realise my feelings on modern F1!

I named no names i just think its funny how Hamilton was too aggressive/reckless back than according to alot of people and yet when other drivers are aggressive/reckless they are praised for it.

And i personally don't like the new silenced Hamilton its boring as hell watching interviews with media drones or drivers with no personality/emotion, you may have not liked what he said but atleast he expressed some emotion and didn't just act like a robot like some.

And also every driver blames the other guy in accidents most just don't get as much screen time as Hamilton.

It is possible for different people to have different opinions. You're acting like everyone here was bashing hamilton and praising schumacher.
