Fingers crossed....that from Valencia onwards that Mclaren will dominate :D

That's not fun, it would mean going from one form of domination to another! Let's just start with something basic... like multiple drivers winning 3 races each.

B b b buttt i always want Mclaren to win :P and hmmm mulitple drivers...Hamilton, Button, Massa and Webber there is that better?! :hehe:

See that's much better. I won't even be a bubble buster with the Massa wish. :D[/quote]

:hehe: id rather have Massa win over Alonso anyday...and i would of said Webber but i just couldnt do it :P

Both wins taken away from Vettel have been pretty much luck, but that's racing. It's actually on a smaller scale what happened last year. Vettel quite clearly should've wrapped up the championship last year, a lot sooner. He led a majority of the races, but it would often be a mistake or some bad luck that would ruin it for him.

Here is the important stat so far this year:

Laps led out of 442:

Sebastian Vettel: 352 79.64%
Jenson Button: 31 7.01%
Fernando Alonso: 22 4.98%
Lewis Hamilton: 19 4.3%
Nico Rosberg: 14 3.17%
Felipe Massa: 4 0.9%

Unless that statistic changes drastically. Count this season as Vettel's. Add to that his all-bar-one pole position tally. This is who Vettel is. He has always been a qualifying freak, and always led races comfortably from the front. Ever since his junior days. Everyone is going to have to get used to it. He is the new Schumacher in my opinion. He has the potential to win 5 in a row. :wavey:

It is interesting to also bring up the stats from last year:

Driver Laps led
Sebastian Vettel 382
Mark Webber 317
Jenson Button 145
Fernando Alonso 126
Lewis Hamilton 100
Felipe Massa 42
Nico Rosberg 16
Sebastien Buemi 1

It's interesting to see that last year, Button led a lot more laps than Hamilton.

Nothing interesting about that, Button was always the last to pit as he had to bank on his 'tyre conservation' strategy due to lack of pace, which nearly never worked out. Last to pit = more laps led.

Those statistics are impressive. Funny enough though, In Canada Vettel lead every lap of the race.... except the last.

Laps led is an interesting stat but race wins is where it counts. Given RedBulls superiority this year and most of last year its no wonder their drivers show high statistics. Not something to croon over.

And you want to bring luck into race wins? Monaco was as lucky as you can get for a race win. His two that he lost were not based on luck, he was being chased down by a faster McLaren in both cases, one he was passed the other he was forced into an error. No luck involved there mate :)

No it is luck. And as I said, luck is part of racing so I'm super cool with it.

No it isnt luck. Luck is getting free tyre changes on the grid when your own tyres are getting old. Luck is having the safety car come out and stay out at opportune moments. Having a driver get past you isnt bad luck, thats motor racing.

Just think, we've had four world champions since Alonso. Vettel getting a double will be almost unfamiliar territory. In my opinion it was getting ridiculous. I was wondering if all these rule changes were going to mean that the notion of successfully defending the WDC/WCC crown were dead.

Point taken, although I think Button would say that he was lucky. And motor racing is about taking your chances when they come to you. Motor Racing is mostly all about luck. On Saturday Rick Kelly in V8 supercars also admitted he was lucky when a botched re-start after a safety car resulted in the front five cars going wide or even off the circuit. Kelly overtook the lot of them, but he understands that Motorsport is about taking your chances when you get them and capitalizing on good fortune which is usually misfortune for others.

You can't fault Vettel for changing his tires in Monaco. He did everything that was available to him to capitalize on his luck. Almost every race I've seen in a wide variety of categories, I believe I've witnessed luck somehow shaping a result. Hence, I've formed an opinion that luck is part of motorsport, and skill is when you take the opportunities available to you to make the most of a result. In Monaco I believe that Vettel was making the most of the opportunity as if the race weren't going to be red flagged. If the race did continue, I believe that he would've held off both drivers. If not he'd happily pull into pits and finish on the podium. And then when the red flag was shown, he took advantage of the opportunities made available to him.

He was racing to get the maximum result from both scenarios, and the fact that he was going to get the maximum result from both scenarios means to me that he is a skillful driver.

Last year Fernando Alonso led under a third of the laps Vettel did, he headed into the last race the favourite for the title. That statistic helps us in determining absolutely nothing.

Also this season should be Vettels, and much of what you say i agree with. But his two wins taken away luck?

Your going the right way for a smacked bottom with claims like that mate. Vettel won in Spain cause Hamilton couldnt get that run off the last corner. Vettel won in Monaco because of an awful fortunate red flag, Vettel also has had the most dominant car for two and a half years.

Somehow when Lewis and Jenson have to fight tooth and nail through the field, Jenson coming from 5 pit lane visits and the back of the field in the wet, and Lewis overtaking every son of a gun in China just to get a chance at Vettel, they both have had lucky wins. If actually having to fight for wins rather then let the car do the work for you is luck.............
