I know that, but according to Brundle and DC, the FIA changed the DRS zone for the race on Saturday without the teams knowing.

Ah i thought you meant there was a zone on saturday for p and q.

Just watched the replay since i missed the live. I was really rooting for Rosberg when he was leading the race...

I know its been mentioned already but I can't understand why Vettel 2 stopped. He pitted within a lap of the McLarens and was infront after the first stop, why didn't he just mirror them the whole race?

Anyhow +1 for close races. Championship down to the wire again

Some people are so blind.

Lewis drove an amazing race. Period. That's it. Accept it. If it had been Alonso, well, same deal. Amazing race, period. Lewis deserved that win, it wasn't "given" to him or anything like that.

Now, the very best driver of the race was Webber, no contest!

I wonder if we are going to see more tyre saving as standard. Using Lewis in Malaysia vs Lewis in China. Having nice sets of tyres just makes so much difference. I think we could possibly see more 1-shot Q3 qualifying laps to keep a set of Options fresh

For sure.

It shows how much the tyres can affect the result, though. Shrewd move by Lewis to keep a brand new set of options from qualifying and Webber's fresher rubber had a lot to do with his blistering pace at the end. Good job Pirelli! :drink:

Could you kindly rephrase that?

All true but not that difficult to pass back markers with the RB7.

With that being said, he ties Lewis for drive of the day; hell of a drive from Webber and I know in his mind he's preparing for the next race more than anyone b/c he wants to let all of the doubters know that he is capable of winning a WDC

Who would've thought Vettel would be overtaken at least once this season when out in the lead?

@Kerk, nothing taken away from Lewis, he drove the hell out of the McLaren, flawless drive, and there was little too improve on his day's performance. He passed everyone he needed to pass, and made the cameras focus once again on the leaders instead of mid fielders!

@Smokin, I agree about the tires, it's something we're going to see a lot of again. Tire strategy, tire strategy, tire strategy. The Saubers tried to go long on thier stints again this race. So everyone will do what works for their situation. Like Red Bull going with a two stopper for Vettel and a 3 stopper for Webber. I wouldn't take anything away from Webber, he had an equally phenomenal race, but again since he missed Q2 and Q3, he had fresher rubber, which allowed him to fight his way up through the field. The trick was that it didn't all need to be done at once, he overtook 3 or 4 cars with each set of tires. I bet you Ferrari took note of that and I bet you it won't be the last time we see a performance like that this year.

OH... one thing I forgot to mention that hadn't been spoken about, there was quite a bit of reliability, only one DNF and that was due to a pit stop muck up. Finally Williams gets two cars over the finish line. Something that unlike Williams HRT managed to do on 2nd race.

Haven't had a chance to read all the threads, am on my way home from Shanghai. Got to say what an amazing race. I've been to a few, but this has to rank as one of the best!

Superb, brilliant drive by Webber! Can't tell you how good his drive was to see.

Brilliant win by Lewis, hats off to him and McLaren.

Excellent to see Nico/Merc put in such a great performance and it was great to see him lead the race for as many laps as he did.

Can't leave without saying for all the Tifosi that we shouldn't be too upset with our race. Clearly not as fast on a single lap as the Macca's or Red Bulls, but, our race pace on the option tyres is equal to them. We just need to improve our pace on primes and for qualifying - the key to that, IMO, is through our aeros.

So happy to see Felipe end the race as the leading Ferrari, and that's taking nothing away from Nando. And to all those who say Ferrari favour Nando and he's the #1 before the season starts - gee, I wonder what went wrong????? How is it that Felipe is "allowed" to finish ahead of Nando??? How is it that there are no secret messages??? How is it that Nando isn't off sulking???? You're all so sure for a year now that Ferrari will always favour Nando - hmmm, wonder what went wrong these last 2 races. Never mind, I'm 100% certain that you will find some way of justifying your views, but, no matter what you post, the fact is that:-
Felipe finished ahead of Nando, by one position, for the last two races
Team orders are allowed
Ferrari said/did nothing to move Nando ahead of Felipe

You lucky dog, getting to see two GPs back to back. I'm sure there are quite a few people here that would have traded places with you. This weekend was indeed a phenomenal race to witness.

On your Fernando/Felipe controversy... that's because there wasn't a podium involved. Juuuust kidding. :hehe: I think Ferrari are worried about a lot more right now than their number 1 or number two driver status assignments. I think Ferrari took copious notes on what Webber did this weekend and may be getting some "ideas" of their own.

Congrats on the 4K, I'll just let the digs pass :-)

As I said, for the Tifosi, on options, we were same pace as Macca's and Red Bulls, and, despite being where we are, we still got valuable points. It's a long year, so lets see what our Turkey upgrades bring

For some reason i always get the impression that the Ferrari has fantastic mechanical grip, possibly the best, but is lacking in further grip provided by aerodynamic downforce.
