I have witnessed quite a few races were he decimated the field in the wet yet they are on tape back in Houston but Barcelona 1996 and Spa 1997 come to mind. Yes Lewis is a phenom in the wet and that I do not deny and imho think he is the best of the current lot in the wet (except for Schumi :D ) but as we all know it's about the setup. I'm looking forward to a wet race if it actually happens.

Are you saying this is the truth at PRESENT?

Did you watch China last year..Lewis practically drove rings around Michael.

I'm not saying Lewis is the best, I'm saying Michael DEFINITELY isn't anymore. He's probably anywhere in the top 10 of the current lot! Even top 5 is doubtful.

pretty sure DRS is disabled in wet conditions during the race too.

Wasn't there some confusion over this recently during practice? They came out and said a car with any wets on, couldn't use the DRS, then, when they applied it they said no-one could use it because a car had wets on... Something like that. I'm sure it will be covered in the driver briefings/meetings.

yeah, all i can find in writing (including the official f1 website) is here:

"As discussed in the team managers meeting yesterday, I would like to confirm that for safety reasons the driver adjustable bodywork permitted by Article 3.18 of the Technical Regulations may not be operated in any practice session (including qualifying) if the car is fitted with intermediate or wet-weather tyres," Whiting explained in a note to the teams.

"Any driver using the adjustable bodywork whilst the car is fitted with intermediate or wet-weather tyres will be reported to the stewards as being in breach of Article 2.3 of the Technical Regulations [dangerous construction]."

No mention of the race. I could have sworn I heard the BBC announcers mention that DRS would not be allowed during a wet race, but maybe they just assumed the rules above would carry over to a race.

What I'd heard was a variation, a more strict interpretation where if ANY car on the track had wet or intermediate rubber on, then no car on the track would be allowed to use the DRS.

It happen back in Oz in one of the Practice sessions. I think one of the Virgin cars were on inters and then DRS was disable on all cars because one car was on inters.

That opens up a lot of strategy.

Lets say Vettel is being chased down by hamilton and is coming close to under 1 second behind him, Redbull could just call Webber in and put him on inters and reduce the likeliness of Lewis overtaking him...

It just goes to show how stupid the DRS is.
I would laugh and then be cranky if they made Webber go on wets on a hot dry day to protect Seb but then again i won't be Surprised.

I doubt they would DARE do anything close to this, they have had more than enough flak for just a front wing. Deliberately spoiling Webbers entire race weekend to benefit the other driver? Not good brand image at all for Redbull.

yeah I think that if the lift of team orders gets too much play, it might sit well with the regulations, but it wont sit well with F1 fans ... even for the Vettel fans I would imagine. BTW I don't know why they lifted that restriction...if almost feels like a step backwards.

Well, i didnt mean it exclusively for Redbull, i was using them as an example. I think many teams who have used team orders in the past may be willing to use this strategy.

Not pointing fingers but ill give you a hint:
Red.
