I've read a few things that Nick is worried that Kubica will be angry with him or resent him in some fashion but is there any words on how Kubica took the news? I assume he had to know he would be replaced by somebody.

I don't know the history here, is there any bad blood between these to?

Basically, Kubica doesnt want Heidfeld to drive his car because then the myth of Kubica being the best driver on the grid would be unearthed as phoney.

Thats bound to rile a few heads in here....... :D

I havent read any word from Heidfeld about that... is there any article or has the "rumour has it" button been hit again?

No I'm not that kinda of poster. I'll find it again, it was something in the Q & A on the f1 site, and he also seemed uncomfortable in the new video released on the f1 site.

I think they respect each other but that is about it. A bit of tension is there I think. 2-1 to Heidfeld for the 3 full seasons they did together.

I think I read before Kubica didn't like BMW spending time with Heidfeld in 08 working out his tyre issues when he was essentially fighting for the title.

I think Kubica's concern will be focused on getting back to health first, if he's in a position to drive a car in 2012, he'll be taken back by Renault with open arms regardless of Heidfeld's performance this year.

My thoughts aswell.

Kubica recommended a guy who is not fit to even be test driver for Renault. Anyone really think he's going to be happy with Renault taking a guy who he probably fears might guide the team to their first victory in years?

IMHO Kubica doesn't deserve what happened to him, but Nick definitely deserves this drive.

With all the praise you're giving him, he better fully deliver for them, since his performance last year with Sauber did leave a lot to be desired. I'm indifferent when it comes to him, but I'd love to see him deliver now that he's gotten a shot simply because he's better qualified than a lot of other drivers that are on the grid or have gotten a chance only because of the dollars they bring.

I wonder what the chances are of Vitaly being booted if nick does awesome. I don't like that idea imo, I think petrov is an unsung hero.

That also manages to bring lots and lots of rubles to the team... given the recent interest in F1 by Russia.

I'm sure Petrov will find a ride in F1 even if its not Renault, specially because of the russian integration. Petrov hasn't been a revelation or anything... but he has shown pace on occasions. That's good i think, and everyone knows he's in a lot of pressure and not getting that much support from the team. If petrov was in a team like Williams or even Sauber, i think he would be showing a better face.
