How do you listen to music? MP3 player, iPhone, radio, internet, vinyl?

If the 50’s and 60's were the era of the record, in the 70's we had tape, (lovely 8-tracks and cassettes!), and the Sony Walkman, then CD's in the 80’s and now MP3's.

This Day in Music is running a poll to find out how you listen to your music.

Upto 2 1/2 years ago I listened to my music through a 12.6kw professional PA system; that has five amps and more level meters, knobs and switches you could shake a stick at!

Please tell me you didn't just plug your white iPod ear buds do all of that hardware.

Ultimately music comes out of speakers of some sort, so that's where you should put your money first. The last piece of stereo equipment I bought was a pair of Kef Q series floor standing speakers. I am still using a Carver amp and preamp I bought in 1988!

Funny you should say that, I did plug my iPod into the system for between band listening, although I did use a very high quality stereo minijack to two phono cable!

I'm a bit of an audiophile, more than my budget allows to be honest; and a bigger problem than cheap speakers is people spending thousands of $$$ on equipment and linking them together with cheap interconnects and speaker cable, my last CD player had a £400 interconnect cable between it and the amplifier, the CD player cost £300!
