All subjective opinions on your part, you could say the same things about a local remote control car racing club.

What you should be saying is you want BIG engines unattainable to the common man. "bigger is better" That would be more accurate, still subjective, still an opinion, but at least you wouldn't be able to say that about the RC club.

No, go back and read what I've posted. I against:
- Mediocrity in F1
- F1 being shaped around selling family cars
- political correctness driving F1
- False or pretend greenism

I want F1 to be about:
- Superlatives in engineering
- The latest/best/fastest and "Pushing the envelope"
- A competition for and of the best motor racing on this planet
JackMaster wrote:but you should take into account that the green effect will be produced when the car manufactures apply that reduction, to a third in fuel consumption, to all the vehicles
This may come as a total shock to you but the motor industry will try and produce better more efficient engines for sales in family cars no matter what F1 engine is used
texasmr2 wrote:Maybe roadcars and F1 in 2013 have more common interest than expected

Be careful what you wish for......

We keep down this path using the logic and reasons being applied here and F1 will be Street-Stock/Production-car racing.

F1 dies when there is no gulf between F1 and family cars.

Yeah Baby!
Jabberwocky wrote:I however prefer design over engineering so I would like to see big fuel burning monsters that could suck children and family pets into the airtakes. All designed about what F1 should be about which is going as fast as possible.
Oh Yeah Baby!

This is is a lucid moment right here, thank you new member robisf1 :D for so eloquently rebutting claims of what's nothing more than subjective opinions.

One thing is saying what you want to happen and another very different is saying what you think is gonna happen. I’ve tried to give a reasoned explanation about the possible targets they pretend to reach with the 2013 change of rules.
They won’t care if you, I or anyone else wants a supercar or a monster car. In my opinion, they have their own interests and they will behave in consequence. And that’s what I’m trying to find out.
There is an interesting fight between teams and right owners that have different and sometimes opposite targets and I try to know what they are pretending with every movement they do.

it was sarcasm, right? Ok, i made too big numbers, but cmon, if your own car has v6, then v4 in f1 looks stupid!

It depends on technological advances. If engineers are able to make a V4 car as fast as the present cars are and with a significant reduction in fuel consumption, who cares about the number of cylinders? F1 must be at the vanguard in technology. If you don’t put limits to cars and engines technology becomes less necessary and F1 could become a series of monster cars races.
For me are better the new regulations and advances than all those aerodynamics flaps, mini flaps and micro devices, here and there, absolutely useless outside F1.

can somebody tell me why, when there were the fastest cars ever driven F1, I mean Turbo-era (Rosberg's fastest ever lap...) why it was easy for new teams to come? Maybe its not the question of tehnics, but poor work from FOM...

Reliability has its merits as well...

Because then it was all about engines rather than aerodynamics - teams could just get hold of a decent engine and still make a good show of themselves. Now, it's the other way round and teams have to spend loads fine tuning the aero, because it's really the one big thing that determines where a car is on the grid.

Can you say, non sequitur?

Just rambling but a 4 pot turbo inherently has alot of low-end torque and torque is what actually makes a car quick and then hp takes over, yet we must also realize that gearing ratio's (if not controlled by the MAN) will have a significant impact. So I guess what I'm alluding to is that even if the engines produce less hp I doubt the performance aspects will be that drastically noticeable.

Very few turbocharged engines are immune from turbo-lag, which robs bottom end.

The turbo lag today is nothing like the turbo lag of yesteryear. I remember driving a Saab 900 turbo and man when you put your foot down you could count... one mississippi two mississippi....thre...WHOOOSH that's not been the case for a decent turbo in at least a decade.
