“After Mark’s impact with the wall, it was clear on the TV and from the data that his car was badly damaged. However, the natural and immediate instinct of any competitive driver is not to give up and to keep going.
“In the atrocious conditions, Mark made the snap decision to continue as every driver would in that situation – it’s absurd to suggest that Mark would ever deliberately take out another driver.
“Mark accepted immediate blame for this incident, which in itself deserves credit."
Horner seems to be saying Mark had some input into the car control with the intention of continuing if the car was able, whatever Marks reason was for going across the track (in atrocious conditions) the risks were the same.

We saw the suspension was wrecked from the video ,but Mark had no way of knowing just yet.
Actually, in the interview with Fernando Alonso (the one in the spanish show a few motnhs ago) they asked him at what point do they know after taking a hit (referring to the Barrichello crash) that the car is out... Alonso said they ussualy find out in the next corner. He explained they dont know what damage they have until they try the next corner, because they could be missing a tire, broken suspension or wing and they dont know....
I think this is the case with Mark.
Unless he had taken out Alonso right behind him

Imagine the outcome had it been Alonso.....

Came out fighting indeed.
