It's funny how you guys went from writing him off for the championship this season to hoping he needs to take en engine penalty because he is such a threat for the title now

And you're not overly biased towards anything with a Ferrari logo on it?

Please...nobody's hoping for anyone having to take penalties...just trying to work out the different scenarios that COULD take place.

My favourite team is Renault actually, well what's left of them. ;)

Here's a scenario, Flav decides he wants to win Lewis as his client and become his new manager and decides to take him to the beach to show off his talents:-

don't think he was ever written off. run off good form and any of the drivers in the top 5 will pick it up.

lewis had just a good a streak, so did mark. its all about consistency in this championship though and mark is ahead because he has been the most consistent

Mind you, it seems Lewis has found a way of reducing his engine running time, apparently it doesn't have to run while the cars being repaired :hehe:

A bit harsh :D

Apparently :hehe:

I think it's Webber's championship to lose now. Alonso will drive as hard as he can for a win or a decent points finish. Will the used engine's be at their best to do the job and last the distance? I doubt it. You only win in F1 by having the best of everything for every race.

IMO people are way overstating the engine thing. Lewis and Jenson both use engines for 3 races multiple times. Perhaps a used engine might be 2-3% down, that's it. Fernando will make it to the last race and won't have to use any engine more than 3 times. Ferrari hasn't lots an engine in a race for a long time, so there's no reason to even suspect they will have any problems.

And, for what its worth, both Ferrari drivers actually do have one "fresh" engine they can use. It is their #1 engines. They were changed in Bahrain before the race and can be used, if Ferrari wanted to, for the last race of the season.

Did Vettel's eight engines blow tonight?

It went with a bang, and on top of that it started burning. That means they must use the old engines, which should not be a problem.

Only problem is the next two races are hot climates. Which may cause problems when using an older engine.

Guess it will play its part, it all depends how much the other engines are used. Ferrari have been on its 8th engine for a while now, and they are just as quick as the other teams. If any engines was to go today, I was expecting it to be Alonsos. As they commented before the race, they are concerned.

Luckily for Fernando he got a win without needing much from the engine. Now has 3 engines to use for the 2 races... perhaps they will the Monza engine (which they probably trashed) in Abu Dhabi and leave the other for Interlagos. Who knows, he could still get a failure.

But funny... Alonso leading the championship??!! This is crazy stuff.

Vettel had been complaining about braking for T1 i thought when Alonso passed it was a brake problem; but wow, the engine blew hard...
