As a Ferrari fan, I refuse to read anything into practice times anymore. I'm sure redbull fans learnt that ages ago.

I think the unique package for Monza opens the field wider than normal, say if Renault's top notch aero guys get it right they could be right up there for this race. And of course the low downforce makes for good racing as we don't get so much of the "dirty air" effect.

At this track you can't read much into qualifying or even when the cars line up on the grid either....because of the crazy chicane just down the road when the lights go green...

Best hope Alonso qualifies high then, you don't want him surging down there first lap clouded with determination to brake last. Actually, that could seriously be one of the interest points, Alonso using the Ferrari's breaks to just edge ahead of drivers at the chicane working his way back up the field, bit like what he did in Monaco.

Ferrari don't have super brakes

ALonso hasn't figured that out yet, and Massa thinks the opposite.

Although they're brakes are good, its how he's done most of his overtakes I think.

who Alonso? most of his overtaking has been the new 6 teams like at Monaco or his team mate pulls over for him :whip:

Are you talking about Spa where he was overtaking left right, the HRTs, Lotuses and what not? Yeap those Ferrari brakes were pretty awesome alright.

I dont see how that one manouvre would draw a conclusion that Ferrari have superior brakes this season. But Alonso did well in Monaco, his best drive by far this season I'd say. I wouldn't put that race down to brakes either though.

Seems like the Non- Fduct setting is faster at Monza.

What is all this talk about Alonso and overtaking??
Alonso is a clean overtaker. VERY VERY rarely you will see him attempt a kamikaze out of order pass. Even at Monaco. Unlike....

Hm, it's a lot closer than i expected between the top 3 teams! There was a period in FP2 where i'm fairly sure they were all doing low fuel runs and it's roughly 4 tenths between them all!

Even it that turns out not to be the case it also seems like there's not all that much difference between the hard and soft tyres, certainly in terms of outright lap time.

Do you mean towards the end of P2 when Vettel and Ferrari's got p1-3 on the softs? not sure McLaren were on a low fuel run, Redbull and Ferrari switched to the option and found 5 tenths straight away and leap frogged the Maccas, when McLaren came back out on the option they were slower. ESPNF1 suggests McLaren were either doing heavy fuel runs on the options or that they didnt suit them. With the latter i find hard to believe given the advantage the Redbull and Ferrari found.
