I'll repeat.... 1 pt over a championship where there was the incident in Hungary... hardly outclassing. Kimi didnt outclass anybody in that yr either.

But if you want to go by numbers, then Schumacher is the best ever. And you say he isnt. So decide: either the numbers are it or they are not. It can't be numbers for a situation you'd like and then something else for another situation.

Rookie vs 2 times one would think a 2 timer would wipe the floor with his team mate. Even matching him is outclassing him if that person is a rookie!

Why?

Being a rookie is just that, being a rookie. Seasonal form comes and goes... a driver can be great one season, then not so great another... not necessarily because of experience or not. It is far beyond simply being a rookie.

To me it all depends on the car. Massa is not as terrible as he looks now. And Button was not so greatly above the rest as his 1st half in 2009.

Yeah experience means a lot. But the next yr he had more experience and did not drive "better". So is it experience or something else?

Anyway, it was a VERY good deed. Getting those results in a rookie yr was amazing. Nothing short of jaw dropping... but it ends there. Looking at the driving alone, you can't say either of the 3 in 2007 drove better than the others.

seeing as he couldn't finish the deal in 07 yet won the title in 08, winning more races than the previous year along the way seems he drove better than his rookie year to me.

Don't enjoy disagreeing with you in multiple threads mate, but when you come in a rookie and have a '2X WDC' to stand up to, with everyone in the team expecting it to be Lewis' learning year...and he comes and performs like he did, it is jaw dropping I agree with you there.

But he definitely turned on the aggressive mode in the very next year and played it supercool (almost losing it again!) in the very last race...I'd say it was a great improvement from his rookie year!

I like Massa. But I don't feel sorry for him one bit. He was clearly slower than his team mate and then he acted like a whining baby both with where he allowed the pass and what he said in the press conference. I went back and watched it again...and Massa needs to either take some responsibility for his inabilities or take a walk.
