button stayed on pace with hamilton throughout the race last weekend. I just wonder what hamilton and button were being told in Germany.

Jenson was getting told to hold off webber and not lose positin. He could not get pass Lewis even when he had a head start on the grid.
Jenson had a chance to close the gap to Lewis last weekend but he failed to do so, yet again he was outdriven by a better driver who was not having the best weekend himself.
Even with a head start on the grid Jenson still can't get it together, he just can't match Lewis. Now the rat and massa have up their game Jenson has really got his work cut out for him, he will start dropping down quick.

It can be down to fractions in sport sometimes and the Start of the race on Sunday was a good example. Jens actually got of the line very well and was in 4th into turn one but got caught up behind Vettel who braked suddenly causing Jens to lose all momentum and two places to Webber end Hamilton. But his experience and great driving pushed him up behind lewis after the first pit stop.

So I wouldn't say he was "outdriven" by Lewis, and if he was genuinely "outdriven" I'd hold my hands up, he was just unlucky in those opening 15 seconds. The rest of the race he was on par with Hami.

Come on, all drivers on the grid are behind someone unless you are on pole. The fact remains that Jenson didn't cut it at the start of the race and yet again Lewis did, it was down to driver skill not luck. If he was on par he should of had a chance to take his team mate, he couldn't, even though he started the race in front of his team mate.

He was pushed off the track at the first corner. You can't blame him for a mistake made by someone else. Jenson drove a good race, and your boy could not leave him. Jenson was on him for the entire race...finishing 2.4 seconds back which is typical following distance with today's aero

Vettel's mistake opened up the gates of fortune (LOL) for several guys.
Both Jenson and Lewis drove a very good race specially considering they weren't match for the faster cars. That is what brings you championships. When your car is not the best, you have to reel in the results on a daily basis and not make mistakes. That's what cost Ferrari so much this yr: mistakes.

I say they are pretty much even (and on a very high standard) right now.

In terms of pace, I'm impressed with Jenson. Before the season started I thought it would be like Kubica and Petrov style. :hehe: Nah, joking. Not that bad of course.

But Lewis has the edge where he is actually a racer. Born and bred. Jenson is the 'let's see what THIS strategy does!' kind of guy and plays the long game all the time. When he is in a Brawn situation, it works very well. Not when there are actual racers and more than 2 cars which are around the same pace around him.

As Ineluke said, now that Massa and the rat (lol) are going to be mixing it in, Jenson is going to find it quite tough. We've seen Lewis take it to Alonso on the track and kick his bottom. Jenson's done that once in Canada this year though Alonso was completely caught out due to a backmarker. I'm sure Alonso was surprised about Jensons move as well!

I agree. Jenson seems to be the thinker of the two, taking his opportunities after careful, although often very rapid, consideration. Lewis always appears to drive at the edge of control - and sometimes over it, once the red mist descends. If one of them were to throw it off the track I'd bet on Lewis (almost) every time. Lewis's style suits most racing situations but Jenson will always win out where a calm head is needed.

The truth is that this year we have the best couple of drivers we had for a long time. Both can fight for the title and finaly McLaren can go for the WCC (fingers crossed).

The luck is strong with with this one. Can't shake him.
I thought the diffuser would give Button some trouble but apparently it didn't. We need some more upgrades. Something to make the car fast enough to get on the front row, but slow enough so that the odd Ferrari or RedBull can be in front of car number 1.

Fail.

I don't care about Button! I never followed him in the past and never will. I don't even like Mclaren as a team. Never used to follow them until Montoya days. So yeah, I don't care about the WCC! :hehe: Screw dat!

They say it's a team sport but that is a lie. It's a team that has individuals who play the sport, ALONE. Like track and field. You have track clubs with individuals who run ALONE and win ALONE. Yeah, if your doing a relay that's different. But there aint no relays in F1 (well at Ferrari there is :hehe: ).

Sure it would be nice to win the WCC... but I actually want RedBull to win that one, the car is so good, they deserve it. Mcleran has let me down so much I don't care anymore.

It's a team sport, the teams help drivers with the setup feedback, race stragety and I'm pretty sure its the engineers who actually make the friggin car.

Mclaren let you down so much? what the hell do they owe you? Why should they not let you down?

I suspect you mean as a Lewis fan, in which case :bs: Mclaren developed him as a young driver, and gave him a race winning car in Lewis's entire time in f1 - now thats a big one. How many other drivers have had the opportunity to be in a car capable of winning races for their entire career?

+1. Being a Lewis fan and putting down his team is bollocks. Lewis wouldn't even be in F1 if not for Ron Dennis keeping an eye on him since he was a toddler.

I had lost faith in mclaren a long time ago. I won't be surprised when Spa comes around and we are still 0.7 seconds behind the Ferrari and Redbull. (Come to think of it, it might even be 1.3 seconds because of the length of the Belgian circuit!). Sometimes the car is decent sometimes it's just horrible, I just take it as it comes. I mean it's not supposed to be like that, the car should be able to fight in every race.

It still burns me that Hamilton never got a fair crack at defending his Championship. It is time Mclaren give the man what he deserves or else he will have to look elsewhere. I mean, something that can actually take the fight to the redBull and Ferrari. And I am not comforted by the current points standings because as much as I say Button is lucky, Mclaren is really the one that is lucky, McLAREN LUCKED OUT! RedBull and Ferrari were tripping over their own shoe laces while Mclaren were capitalizing on the others' misfortunes. Mclaren have never won on speed this year, never, Not even Canada. Some people think this is enough and it's part of racing, but Mclaren can't rely on this to carry them through the second half of the season. It's gonna get really tough from now on.

Yes Uncle Ron did his work. But It's all apart of destiny. Hamilton just needs to get his grubby hands on that Mclaren F1-LM and hightail it outa there HOPEFULLY by 213 (if the cars are good). Maybe to Ferrari. That would be wicked.

I think it's quite ironic how much Lewis loves McLaren and how much you love Lewis mate. It's almost like condemning his 'racing parents', when they are the reason he exists in this world!!

And Lewis to Ferrari?? Even the thought of it makes me start disliking Lewis a bit.... :banghead:

No man Lewis would never leave McLaren, even if his car would be the slowest he would still do the best he can and keep fighting. And thats what makes him the best active driver in f1. Although he has a slower car he has done the most overtakes, and he is in the lead. Not only he brings results but he is giving a great show for the fans!

:clap::clap::clap::clap::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::hehe::hehe::hehe::hehe:

haters can say everything they like, when you are the best, some people will hate you for this and they will never admit the facts!

His talent and ambition is the reason why he is where he is. If he never approached Mr. Dennis he would have probably went to somebody else. Determined people like Lewis and Anthony will always find a way to make it through; some people are just "go getters". They know how to get what they want. It is simple destiny that he ended up at Mclaren. Button ended up at Mclaren too, and overnight at that he didn't have to work like some "experimental" robot driver like Hamilton. It's Just destiny. So If Hamilton get's tired of Mclaren (Like Pat Fry!) he can always head over to the red team, He will have done enough (3XWDC) for Mclaren by that time.
