Not a big fan of Apple, either. Or McDonald's.

I chose my words carefully. I said forced because at times, it's either WalMart, or drive an extra 4 miles round trip to get one ingredient I'm missing. Poor planning on my part, but I can't bring myself to waste the additional gas for the trip.

Sometimes to uphold a green lifestyle, you have to sacrifice and prioritize your principles.

I'm in a rural environment so nope. the WM is exactly 1 mile away the closest local market is 3 miles away.

But get ready for this... to complicate the decision making process more. I was listening to NPR a couple of days ago and heard a segment where Wal Mart had decided to start buying produce from local regional farmers since they figured out that they could bring cheaper produce if they factored in the money it takes to pay for transporting the produce. Cutting shipment times from 4 or 5 days down to shipment times of withing a day. New philosophy for them, good for local farming. Wal Mart isn't doing it out of the goodness of their heart, but at least it's the right thing to do and I hope it becomes a new trend.
