well people talked about them doing the same to BMW and that has not worked so this might be secind best.

On the other hand, the BMW wasn't a POS engine.

It's interesting to think. If McLaren didn't have Merc engines what would they be left with

Ferrari - I'd piss myself laughing so hard if that ever happened. Team McLaren Ferrari
Cosworth or Renault - Not great options are they

By the looks of things, McLaren will have an engine division soon enough. But I don't see why they don't just set one up near their factory?? would make sense to me. They can afford that stupidly expensive technology centre, why not an engine division. Makes more sense than having one in Germany.

For 2010 and 2011 McLaren have got a Mercedes guaranteed supply it's after that period that will be interesting. I also think there will be a new engine spec for 2012.

They can get Peugeot to power them. It paid off the last time didn't it?

Or Lamborghini. Senna liked it. If they'd gone with it he would have stayed and he wouldn't have been in a Williams to crash.

Yeah but the BMW rumour had clout because it was going around the pitlane and not on an internet forum

We are the top of the pecking order.
What we say goes.!!

For practical reasons, McLaren would ideally like something close to Woking. However, taking over somewhere in Germany is not too big a deal, as the facilities and staff would already be in place, and the engine is already pretty decent.

I do agree with the poster who said McLaren could have their own engine department in the future. At the moment, it is looking that way, given the release of the first of several sports cars has just been released. The engines in them are top notch pieces of technology, so there is no reason to say McLaren could not be producing competitive Formula One engines in the not too distant future.
