earlier in the year, when most of the teams decided not to continue using it they decided that they weren't going to be in f1 next year. same thing with those spinners on the wheels isn't it?

personally i think this a good thing. I dont have a problem with the system at all - it clearly works. the problem is if kers were to be used it should be a requirement on the car. either everybody uses it or nobody.

i wouldn't want to see it as a requirement because it is an expensive, dangerous, environmentally harmful PR stunt

thats the angle i am taking. no way it would ever be a mandatory thing since not all of the teams is either interested or maybe be able to afford it.
Good thing to get rid of kers.

I like kers cause it adds that unknown to the race. Like you (as a driver) never really know when the guy next to you is going to use his for that boost to get around you. I like it but not everyone has the technology to do this so I don't think it should be a requirement at all.

it should be universal, it was tried and was too expensive, heavy and awkward for the majority of teams. good thing that it is going, although it has saved mclaren a good few times this year :)

Getting rid of KERS is completely stupid. Even if we take the theories such as that it has not meaningfully improved the spectacle and costs a lot of money at face value, the argument just does not stack up. A lot of money has already been spend developing KERS, so the teams are closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. Teams, stop having a sook and use KERS.

It should stay in given F1's preface is to "innovate technologies" that trickle down to consumer cars. Case in point, one of the coolest features of my Honda Fit Sport are the paddle shifters.

I agree with McLaren Fan; it would be silly to ban it now that the technology has come to fruition as it has proven to be a race winner. The decision to ban KERS was taken when it appeared to be a redundant technology as all the KERS enabled teams were near the back of the grid because of car balance issues. I can't believe that Williams have agreed to abandon the system after spending more than a year developing the technology. Personally I want to see the flywheel KERS system in action!
