From F1 Live:

F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone has been slammed by one of his bosses, amid apparent increasing pressure for him to step down.

In July, CVC board member Sir Martin Sorrell said the Briton's comments about Hitler had been "disgusting". Now, he has denounced Ecclestone's stance over the lifetime ban of Flavio Briatore as more proof that the Briton is "totally out of touch."

Sorrell is chief executive of the communications services group WPP, but he is also on the board of CVC, the owner of F1's commercial rights.

Earlier this week, Ecclestone was one of the 26 World Motor Sport Council members who decided to ban Briatore for life because of the crash-gate cheating scandal. But when he arrived in Singapore, he suggested that Briatore should take the sanction to the Court of Appeal because it is overly harsh.

"First, we had 'Hitler did good', now we have 'cheating is acceptable'. Where will it end?" Sorrell told the Daily Mail newspaper. "His latest comments are yet another example, I'm afraid, of Bernie being totally out of touch with reality," the 64-year-old added.

It should be noted that Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has also suggested that former FOTA stalwart Briatore's punishment was too harsh.

Ecclestone also hit back at CVC commercial director Sir Martin Sorrell's criticism as he defended his belief that Flavio Briatore has been harshly penalised.

"Giving somebody life - they don't even do that for murder," said the Briton.

Referring to his boss Sorrell, Ecclestone added: "Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and why should his be more important than mine? He's not involved in the sport. He doesn't know, he doesn't come to races, he doesn't know the people that are involved."

It was funny watching the interview just before quali, seeing him try to not answer or try to avoid the questions alltogether.

As regards to the Renault thing he said the votes against Flavio was all in favour except one, wonder who that was.

Bernie does need to go; he is now embarrassing his employers by his stupid comments... murderers don't get life sentences... Flavio Briatore having to stay away from FIA sanctioned events and being incarcerated for life is two completely different things... off to cloud cuckoo land Bernie... la la la.. :hehe:

It may be true, but it isn't a fair comparison. He wasn't comparing like to like - not even apples and bananas, he was comparing apples with articulated lorries.

Jake making a twat of himself is nothing new, what would you expect from a former children's tv presenter, BBC made a grave error when giving him the job.

You wouldn't get Barney the slightly worrying dinosaur to host the Olympics would you.

We're going off topic, but I disagree. Jake is engaging, well informed, enthusiastic and normally very good at keeping the thing going, asking the right questions and preventing his co-presenters from coming to blows. I'm not sure many people would be able to better Bernie in a fair fight... erm interview.

Totally Disagree he's doing a great job, Don't forget It was both Jake and EJ and they both got well and truly shown up.

you cannot properly interview someone like Ecclestone if there going to act like a total Muppet really.

And at least Jake got the USF1 rumour out of him.
