Well either way you all know that I think Lewis is truelly a gifted driver because I have mentioned it numerous time's. So I'll just leave it at that because I do not want to argue about it. :)

This is mostly your emotions towards Lewis for whatever reason I'm not sure and i don't care to much, what I would say is that I think many people mistake Lewis's self confidence for arrogance. I think self confidence is extremely important in a top sportsman because if you don't have faith in yourself then how are you going to have the confidence to win and give 100%.

I don't think so, for instance...

(After Massa passes Lewis on the outside of Turn 1 at Hungary) "NOBODY passes me on the outside!" - wrong buddy, you just HAVE been passed on the outside...

There was his "Winning from the back means I'll be even better" (or something on those lines) rubbish when Steve Rider was giving him one of his "intimate interviews" at Magny-Bores last year, you never saw John Watson making a big deal of his two wins from the back in 1982 and 1983. And I think there was one time he claimed he was "better than Senna".

I agree that the statement "NOBODY passes me on the outside!" is arrogant but the statement "Winning from the back means I'll be even better" i don't see much wrong with that surely if you win from the back you are better than if you won from the front?

The reason why I saw that as Lewis getting cocky is because Magny-Bores was an overtaking-unfriendly circuit and we all know how difficult it was (and sadly still is) to overtake at any time in 2008. And then of course he made his inevitable mess-up by cutting the chicane (allegedly) to pass Vettel.

The best sportsmen are arrogant. They just aren't all outspoken.

It is true that a competitor will never be at the top of the sport without supreme confidence in his own abilities. But, when that confidence inspires you to put down other drivers in public, saying one has no balls, calling others 'monkeys at the back' etc...that is not confidence overflowing, that is being an arrogant jerk. There is a difference between standing with your head high supremely confident that you are better than everyone around you...and throwing insults around while proclaiming yourself equal to the best drivers ever to put on a helmet. Confidence versus arrogance. One is a virtue the other a vice.

I think he said "i'll never be overtaken around the outside again" or something dumb like that, and then literally the day after Raikkonen did that exact thing at Spa. :hehe:

Raikkonen did that exact thing at Spa. :hehe:

that was a different scenario due to Hamilton spinning and losing his momentum plus Kimi using the run off to carry more speed up Eau Rouge.

He shouldn't have spun then, should he?! There's always some excuse... :violinist::twisted:
