Maranello, 11th August 2009 - With Michael Schumacher now being unavailable to stand in for Felipe Massa, as from the forthcoming European Grand Prix, Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro announces that car number 3 will be driven by Luca Badoer.

"I am very unhappy that a problem means that Michael cannot return to racing," commented Luca di Montezemolo. "In the past few days, I could appreciate his great efforts and extraordinary motivation which had spread through the team and fans around the world. No doubt his return would have been good for Formula 1 and I am sure it would have seen him fighting for wins again. In the name of Ferrari and all the fans, I wish to thank him for the strong attachment he displayed for the team in these circumstances. In agreement with Stefano Domenicali, we have therefore decided to give Luca Badoer the chance to race for the Scuderia after he has put in so many years of hard work as a test driver."

i would have thought ferrari would have wanted someone with a bit more, erm pazzazz than badoer, a driver whom has scored no points in his career to date.
But i suppose ferrari do owe it to him and he is italian, which always helps.

irons - edited the thread title to try and stop people creating loads of new threads on the same thing, if you were wondering why it changed.

It would have been cool to see Schumacher make a comeback i guess, but at the same time, meh.

Kinda glad to see Badoer get a chance though, the poor bloke was never going to stand a chance when he raced last in F1, nobody could have made those old Minardi's go quick! Hopefully he'll now be able reclaim those points that were so cruelly taken away from him at the '99 Euro GP. I do know this, though - Schumacher and Barrichello hold him in very high regard due to his part in creating the dominant Ferrari's from several years ago...

Well i think,Valencia was kept after a months break for exactly this reason that its so boring and the break will make us F1 fanatics want to see it even though its bound to be sad race, most likely.

Yes you just win your bet if you in fact had placed one. I just cursed a few words before. U tri pićke materine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And now what. Badoer has to drive. How boring. I don't care if he is Italian but Marc Gene is better than Badoer. But I wanted to see Schumacher race just one more time. Now I am truly disapointed. Since Schumi retired from F1 racing it was never the same. And to be honest I am super annoyed at some stuff that has happened to me in the last 2 days and this just gives me an extra excuse to curse.
