Hmm, that's annoying... question is, does Bernie step in and help out (financially or otherwise) now or just give the grid spot to a different new team?

What a joke, BMW are acting very ungratefully here, particularly after Peter Sauber was the one to let them buy out his team. He stayed on as an advisor to the team as well, and this is how they repay him?

BMW need to get a reality check, it's their corporate attitude that's lead them into designing a crap car for this year, and it's also lead them to pulling out of F1 just because they failed just one of their targets.

Right now I can imagine Kubica walking around the BMW factory in Munich pointing at everyone and saying "I told you so".

I agree, though I actually see Kubica pointing at everyone and saying "Hey yooo guys! I told you so. Baby Ruth?"

BMW are entitled to ask what they want for the team. And I doubt Sauber was doing them much of a favour, as he had a twenty percent cut of the team and still felt attached to it. My problem with BMW is that they are not behaving in a sport manner. After being incredibly in favour of things such as KERS and shouting from the rooftops about how evil the FIA was, they then decide to leave Formula One high and dry. Besides, from a business point of view, it makes sense to do something similar to Honda: find somebody to take the team off your hands, so you don't have to pay redundancy and decommissioning costs etc.

At the time of the deal being done I wouldn't be surprised if Dr Mario almost bit his own hand off at the prospect of Peter Sauber keeping a 20% share because he would thought anything like that was better than sticking with Williams and having Sir Frank stand in the way of his attempts to buy them out.
