Why do ya think I sold my Lexus SC300 with the 2JZGTE/T78 swap because every kid in his mom's Honda wanted to race me when they saw the big frontmount IC or heard my straight exhuast. It took serious restraint from me not to race them but I admit I left plenty of them with a stupid/priceless look on their face. :hehe:

VB your just a typical 18yr old who want's to prove he has a fast car so go ahead and buy one and then talk to me in 10-20yr's, unless your dead, when you have actually matured enough to admit that we here were right with our opinion's.

I'm out because this has become very tiresome.

Wait,
Look at the corsa that i just posted.
As i just said, i am going for a 1.2
Compared to most lads and all my mates I'm the one that's engaged and has a promising future. Not on drugs and don't drink. If i wanted to race i would borrow my dads 2.0 Litre TDI Ford Focus and laugh at them. But i want a car to go and see my Fiancee and get to work, so how is that going to kill me

Because my friends and I, as soon as we see somone driving cars like you posted pics of we think, "what a complete cockhead chav" (and worse), who coincentally are "idiots on the road".

 I agree completely.

That is the problem in the UK, many young drivers seem to think that putting a wide bodykit on a car makes it cool; in reality it may impress your modded car friends but it doesn't impress anyone else. I know that you don't want a Nova but at the end of the day 1.2 Nova is still a 1.2 Nova regardless of how many plastic bits you add on!

I have seen thousands of these type of cars being driven around recklessly eventually being wrapped around a lamp post... the Max Power generation.

Personally if I had just passed my test I would go for something small and inconspicuous, not something that screams pull me over officer!

But if you really want to buy a car like that; good luck to you!

This is your answer why most lads insurance is sky high. One i don't have any 'car Mates' i have mates that are still at college and doing business studies, 2 all my mates that have 1.6 cars are sensible. People are too stereotypical. My driving instructor has said that i am one of the best and most pleasant drivers she has ever had with her. I don't think I'm the man upstairs and i would not dare defy him in what i can do and what i can't do. I wear expensive cloths? Doesn't mean i want to be noticed or believe I'm better than anyone else?

it's the feel good factor. With al my savings i have worked hard, i want to enjoy the ride i have. Plus my Misses is strict, so i doubt speeding will happen. Plus if you knew Nottingham then you would know that were i am based there is not much room for racing

I am not typical lad and i am not a twat on the road. A feel good car is what i am after.

You want small, fast and cheap. Do yourself a favour and ditch the OTT mods. Go for subtle styling, but enough to set yourself apart from standard cars. Then go for engine transplant for power coupled with a "performance" exhaust system . . . not just a stupidly large back box, believe me performance exhausts make a much nicer sound anyway! Then lower the car on coilovers (cash permitting) and strut braces to aid handling, and finish with a decent set of alloys.

You'll end up with a street-sleeper! Like my old car really

A bonus with this type of modding is that average joe doesn't assume your a chav idiot, the police don't see any reason to pull you over (which would invalidate your insurance if mods aren't declared), and people at cruises give you respect as they instantly recognise the car is modded and tuned. Is all win-win!

I think the job has been done by a pro and I can see the appeal. But it's not quite my cup of tea.
This is my old motor. Had a 200bhp 1.6 type r engine in it. Subtle it how I roll :hehe:

Yeah put them up when you get it. I used to be quite heavily into the modding scene. I just went for function over form! :hehe:
I did consider tinting the windows but I decided against it for a number of reasons. 1) gives the police a reason to pull you 2) didn't think it would go with the subtle styling and 3) I liked people knowing that I awned the car . . . especially girls :D

VB; I'm not attacking you; I don't know you or how you drive... it's a generalisation but it's a true generalisation... many young drivers think their driving skill is above what it is in reality. It's nothing to do with engine size or power; it's more about lack of experience, trying to take corners too fast and losing control. And yes that is part of the reason why first year drivers insurance premiums are so high, statistically 18 - 20 year olds are more likely to crash due to inexperience!

Blacked out windows give you the chance to check them out, if they hit 10/10 then you take windows down ;)

Do the famous;

" How you doin " ;)

Agreed, but i do not like to be put in a stereotypical category :hehe: . I'm a cautious driver, that's had to have his confidence built up through a moto bike accident. So i'll be a little more cautious than others ;)

Good stuff, i love a wolf in sheeps clothing!:thumbup:

VB, those cars you are looking at will blatantly have been ragged, if they are manuals i wouldn't be surprised if the clutch was knackered... plus most other things. Bear that in mind! :)

my dad is a mechanic, so I'd let him do all the stuff to it, I'll his cars are mint runners and has made some mint motors out of :bs:

Mechanic or not, you're still going to need money to fix those things if they are broken, but it probably wont be worth it in the long run to fix them.

Wait,
Look at the corsa that i just posted.

Ignore the naysayers VB. Get a car you're happy with. What you've posted is definitely not my cup of tea (hence why I wondered about a kit car rather than a Corsa) but if it's your thing, go for it.

Although having said that, the one thing that always puzzles me modding Corsas and the like is that some people pour horrendous quantites of cash into modding their cars...personally I'd rather save my money and buy something more special instead.

FWIW everyone told me not to buy my first 'proper' car. I spent my entire savings on it and it probably was a really dumb thing to do however I bought it anyway and driving it always made me smile. I loved it so much I couldn't bear to sell it and am currently in the process of getting it back on the road :) So as I said, if you're sure it's the car for you, go for it.

Driving a modded Corsa with huge bodykit *will* draw the wrong type of attention. However in my current car I too get a lot of negative attention. I figure as long as I keep to the speed limits and am considerate with my driving, what does it matter 8-)

Well i have took everybody's opinions on board, i have fount a corsa 1.2 that has minor mods like welshie said. It's cool and a nice runner and a 2000 (W) plate. It's 1,600 because it has been well looked after! So i am looking at taking it on passing my test, then do it up after. As we have a 1.6 car in stock at the mo. So in time, i will convert either to a 1.6 engine or a 2 litre Cbo bad boy. I want a decent car to start of with and a project that can be made my baby. That is the best way to do it. So in the end that 1,600 can be turned into a nice 4k. As money isn't a issue, as my dad would lend me cash. Then we can Mod it all in his work shop. But for now that simple car would do just fine

Nice electronics, Air con, Electric Windows, Nice Bucket / Half Leather seats. Just a nice looker
