Apart from falling off my bike as a kid I've not really had a life threatening experience, but it seems most people i know do have some interesting stories, do you?

Almost daily! I almost die of laughing when I read some of the posts here, either because they're funny as hell or because they are oozing dim-witted arrogance :D

You mean you read your own? :P

Yeah I had a near miss when I was twenty, rolled my Mother's Vauxhall Corsa at 60mph. Came round a bend too fast, the road was wet and muddy and the rear tyres were pathetically thin. Anyway, couldn't correct the slide and crossed over the road, missed a telegraph poll by about three foot, launched the car up a bank and all I remember was seeing tree branches. I woke up probably a minute later, upside down in the middle of the road and had to climb out the passenger window. The car was obviously a write-off, and the lady driver following behind said she saw the car flip at least three times. I was left with pulled muscles down the left hand side of my spine, a bruised leg and very cross parents!

I learnt my lesson though, I'll never drive another Vauxhall as long as I live!

My best friend in childhood lived across the road, had a Vauxhall Viva. It was kind of a 2 door wagon. White. Year? Early 70s, possibly very late 60s. It remains the only Vauxhall I have ever seen in NA. They got rid of it at some point. As kids we never appreciated its exlusivity. I would have kept it forever.

I can't tihnk of any near miss of my own, of something as dramatic as instant death, but I did fishtail and hydroplane wildly once on a wet freeway at high speed. Many years ago. I managed to collect it. If I hadn't I would have wiped out and hit the guardrail but I can't say I would have been hurt.

A couple months ago my 2yo fell in the pool while in the care of my parents at their house and was underwater so prevented from breathing long enough to lose consciousness, and my dad gave him CPR and he went by ambulance to the hospital, but he turned out fine.

Was co-piloting for my mate in his mk 2 golf gti (fully rally prepped so bloody powerful and very very fast!!) at 4 am. We were practising for a road rally being held the following week and hit a yump in the road at about 130-140mph ish, flew about 60ft and the back suspension collapsed on landing, we went in to a spin down the road as the back wheels locked, then smashed backwards into a concrete bridge still doing about 80 i'd say. Both undid our harnesses and climbed out the windows a bit shaken. Thank god for the roll cage or the car would have just crumpled.

IT WAS AWESOME!! and quite honestly one of the most enjoyable things thats ever happened to me, but I know if we hit the bridge forwards it would have been very different.

Playing a big kickabout on a field when I was eight but couple of idots were on some Motocross bikes going around the field and the back of the goals, one of them decided to take a shortcut through the pitch. A few people jumped out of the way but i was blindsided by a person as he jumped away from beside me and...knocked me over. Lucky to get away with a few scraps
