Awful news. Ryan has had a wonderful career and was a part of McLaren, so it's tragic to see it end like this. :crying: It's a shame Hamilton has got off much more lightly. :irked: The next thing that needs to happen is for Whitmarsh to either be sacked or demoted ( :( ) (the latter probably being the better choice at this stage) whenever a suitable candidate for Team Principle is found.

I agree, mostly. But I don't think that taking Whitmarsh out of the picture will happen any time soon, nor would it be a good idea. Isnt it Jonathan Neale that's the most senior team-member after Whitmarsh? I couldn't see him being able to step-up to the plate. Whitmarsh has been trained carefully by Dennis over the years, so it would be hard to find someone else from within the team who could take his role.
See it is this argument that Hamilton is "immature" that I can't agree with.
I'm alot younger than him, and I know better.

I agree with this also. I'm twenty and I can say that the last time I lost my head over anything (and I've been in enough situations where I would have been forgiven for doing so) for a long time. Furthermore, Lewis is a top-class Formula One driver, capable of making split-second decisions under huge pressure. The stewards' office should be nothing compared to driving that car around at those speeds. He's mature enough to handle these things properly, he just chose not to do so in this case.

Its easy to say that when you're not in the hot seat. People are different Im a lot older than lewis. What would i do?I hope i'd tell the truth but I dont know. I have been asked to do things as a senior manager that im not confortable with. Its not easy.

Well, eh, yes... that's why I want Whitmarsh to remain at the helm until a suitable replacement is found.

Its easy to say that when you're not in the hot seat.

I've kept pretty quiet about this, but I feel I can no longer remain silent. I find this idea that Hamilton is in some way immature and naive as an offence personally. I've had a much less privileged background than most and have managed to do quite well for myself. Why am I not immoral etc.? I've certainly got a better excuse than Hamilton will ever have. So, please, spare me the bullpoo. I'm tired, fed up and frustrated listening to any sob stories from Hamilton, his arrogant pig of a father, McLaren themselves, and his mindless followers. Hamilton is letting his team take the bullet for him. He's already cost one man his career and reputation. And, as if that's not enough, he definitely wants to desert McLaren because of a situation partly of his making. Hamilton is nothing more than scum.

I don't read anyone here excusing Hamilton for letting himself be put in that position. We're just stating what seems to be what happened.

Just take your time and read.

Lewis "got off more lightly" maybe. If he was told to lie by a senior employee then I dont think he's got of lightly. The alternative is that Lewis asked Ryan to lie. Possible. Dissappointing if so. I don think that hapened. If it did, Ryan should have said categorically "NO!"

Umm...Same argument, t'other way 'round, if the racing director tells you "lie" even though you just told the truth to an active TV camera and there are tapes of you speaking at the time contradicting the lie, you should categorically say "NO".You can't condemn Ryan on the one hand, but excuse Lewis from condemnation on the same grounds.

Kerc ....... the truth of the matter ) and believe me it will come out ) is that he is the reason davey had to go and take the bullet. Chris is absolutely right - didnt think he had it in him but he is right about all this. look at the facts and read between the lines. We can go on and on about this. Davey did not have to take the blame.

I agree with that, actually. They are protecting Hamilton up to a point, but...Anyone that works in a company knows that blame rises up to management. Your subordinate lied? It's your fault, buddy. I'm not saying I agree with this, but that's how it works.

I now loathe mclaren even more for letting Davey take the fall for hamilton's crap in this case. i never liked him in gp2 - i dont like him in F1 - I like the s o b even less now.

The FIA can blatantly see that it was Lewis who wanted to stand firm and keep his 3rd position behind the SC.
And they know for a fact that straight after the race he was open to the press aboout what happened, and was then told to lie.
Yes he lied but the FIA also know he was instruction to do so.
So doesn't that LH's lies less important than the teams?

I've nearly liked Hamilton. I only tolerated him because he's a talented driver. He's gone too far now.
