If he runs out of engines is that the penalty? Five place grid drop. They don't say, sorry you've used up all your engines you can't race anymore.

Its more complicated than that - but the first time he uses a sixth component of the same type its 5 places, then I think its 5 places for every future component. Something like that.

This is the FIA. You just know it's going to be complicated don't you. Why make an easy rule when you can over complicate things and leave things open to different interpretation and retrospective rule changes.

Yep. Which is why they probably stress test these engines to see which parts are weakest in the race engines which could fail soon.

I must say, personally speaking...that race in Valencia was the most frustrating collision Hamilton's ever had in his career. Second being Brazil the same year.

Indeed. That and all the bad pit stops that season obviously drove him mad. Mad enough to switch to mercedes when most people were probably telling him not to. Look who's got the last laugh!

2011 was a tough year because of the realization that no one was anywhere near the Red Bull. There was a desperation to win that ultimately led to him losing out on points to his teammate and feeding the anti Hamilton frenzy, but at least we all know how it turns out.

It's remarkable to see these SIM runs and even though it's just a walkthrough, the focus on his face is intense. can't imagine what it would be like being in an F1 race situation.

I watched that earlier and was thinking the same, although you can understand the intense focus. He's probably more relaxed in thereal thing....since over here he's driving a SIM, following a script, and making sure he's not screwing up anywhere on that lap since the film is rolling. It's a different sort of pressure.

have you ever watched anyone playing a video game?
If they're "serious", it's the same focus, same intensity!

Lewis plays F1 racing video games all the time. Well I knowhe did when he lived in Switzerland and was lonely. He used to play online with his brother. And sometimes his brother beat him. Lewis pushed Nicholas to get into motor racing despite his disability when he saw how fast his reactions were.
And interestingly, teams are looking to people who are fast on the games as much as fast in the early racing formulas to fast track through the racing ranks. This way they can tap into a whole lit of talent that would never get the chance through the normal routes.
