This race at Abu Dhabi will be the last F1 race of the decade (scary huh?!) - hence this thread! Which is/was the best and why?

I voted for the 80's. We had the Turbo era, lots of very exciting Championship battles, cars that were terrifying to drive, and the coming of age for drivers like Prost, Senna, Mansell etc. The Turbo's were gone by the end of the decade, but replaced with the just as legendary 3.5 Litre normally aspirated engines.

It's tough to vote when I haven't seen a great deal from some of those decades. If I could go back and watch an entire decade then I guess I'd pick the 80's.

I'll have to go with the 90s as I don't remember the 80s racing first hand! compared to this decade the 90s had everything I liked about racing, plenty of racers; overtaking and strategy; in the 2000's it seems to have moved to strategy over on track action for position.

This subject should be in the POLLS forum and not the F1 history forum.

i disagree, its about the history of F1.

and a mod created it.

so i'm sure its fine where it is.

>> on topic.

I'm gonna go with the 80's on this by far the most exciting era in terms of drivers, but i haven't seen much of it.

It's tough to call, but I'll go with the 1980s as well. Basically, it's the era in which Formula One evolved the sport it is today.

I voted for 00s, the 1990s were great too. I have never been fond of the 1970s or 1980s and too many people were getting killed in the 1950s and 1960s. Each era has had its own great teams, drivers, tracks etc but the 2000s saw the greatest driver of all time demonstrating his genius and that was a pleasure to watch.
