Wow was it worth all the cylinders to have such a small displacement.

1/8 L displacement per cylinder.

Smaller displacements are way more efficient with todays fuel injectors and computer management of variable valves etc. Maybe better to have more efficient cylinders and combustion/exhaust than to have fewer cylinders and bigger chambers. 12 cylinders sound like overkill though especially before the all singing all dancing electronic systems of today

I was thinking more on the size and throw of the piston. If you think of a can of fizzy drink it is just over 1/3 of the size.

The displacement of each piston would be half a red bull can.
