It just hit me that this year marks thirty years since my all time favourite F1 season - 1984. Such a great season for so many reasons - aside from the cars themselves which I LOVED, there was the emergence of Senna (relevant as per the past week), and the huge battle between the young pretender Prost and old master Lauda. Of course it couldn't have been any tighter without being a tie - with Lauda coming out on top for the last real swansong of his career to take the WDC by half a point. Everybody talks about how dominant McLaren were in 1988, yet it's often forgotten that they were almost at that same level in 1984, just a phenomenal car.

Anyway, thought I'd share. Any memories of that season from anybody here? If not, maybe see if you can find the season review video, or highlights on YouTube etc. and comment here? :-)

I so remember the battles at that time, and, even though it was the toughest time for my team, I was always anxious to see the next episode of the battle.

IMO it is hard to place any driver ahead of Prost.
