Just as it says...

Just been doing some calculations for work and scared myself half to death, I mean how short is life:

24hrs * 365 days = 8760 hours in a year (that's nothing)
85yrs * 8760 hrs = 744600 hours in a lifetime

Is it me, or does anyone else look at those numbers and think 'they look a little bit small'?!

Just to put it in perspective: there are 86400 seconds in a day. Nowadays, we've gotten very used to big numbers such as a billion, right? What's a billion dollars? No big deal, right? The Italians have known this for much longer with their Lira;-) Well, imagine this: you won't be able to count to a billion in your lifetime! Let's say it takes you on average 3 second to call out the next number (that's a pretty good average once you get to 728479787). Let's further assume you count uninterupted, 24/7, no food, no sleep, no umpalumpa (not even with dolls Forza!), no F1 races on TV, etc., etc. - you might as well shoot yourself in the head! Anyway: 3,000,000,000 seconds divided by 86400 seconds in a day equals, ta da: 34722.22 days, which is about 95 years! Pretty depressing, eh?
