The pilgrims first landed on a natural harbour east of Cape Cod, but then boycotted it after a short while to go west to Plymouth

now that was without any looking up so the details might be confused but the gist is that there was somewhere before Plymouth that was boycotted because they had been so eager to land they grabbed the first place protected from the ocean

darwin dali you are correct!

It was the Vikings at about 1000AD. A Norse settlement was found at L'Anse aux Meadows on the northern tip of Newfoundland. They were eventually driven off by an Inuit/Innu group called the Skraelings by the Norse.
