Ignorance, prejudice, conservatism, snobbery, the need to conform, dismissal of diversity, rude people, idiocy, dogma, organised religion, time wasters, and generally people who make other people unhappy.

This pretty much covers it

Well yes, no one could disagree with that list, it's a pretty comprehensive list of unpleasant traits. I was thinking of situations or people where those traits manifest them selves, or even just irrational irritation.

talk about a can of worms...

...it's Christmas, so I'll start there, I refuse to say "Happy Holidays"!
I am proud of being Christian and I won't be politcally silenced into
pretending I'm not. I have friends and acquaintances from various
religious, cultural, ethnic backgrounds; none of whom are offended
by the words "Merry Christmas", nor the sentiment behind them.

I have said Merry Christmas to anyone and everyone I've come into
contact with, these past few days. No one has made a face, no one
has responded as though I've insulted them. A few have responded
with Happy Holidays and that's fine, because just as they have the
right not to celebrate Christmas, I have the right to celebrate it.

If you want to say 'Happy Chrisrmas ' Sagi , then I think you should. I do. I'm not religious but I still say 'Happy Christmas'. Christmas has always been a big thing in my family and is part of a culture I've grown up with. I don't think it's hyoercritacal, I've always done it. I think it would be hypercritical to change. The only time I've used the expression ' happy holidays' is on greeting cards made at school for children clearly from another religion. :)
So Happy Christmas Sagi! And all forumula1 members!!

Conservatism? Really? You want to get all political up in here? You should add capitalism and certain nations foreign policy and how they like to try and start phoney wars to your list.

The human race irritates me.

He put conservatism with a lower case "c", that usually refers to the mentality/mindset rather than the political party. E.g. conservative, as in traditional, not being prepared to change etc.

Just to clarify, then, you/he is talking about traditional values? Or traditions? I guess I'm confused, which happens often.

I an not believe that people don't like Angelina Jolie and Ginger Spice! I have done many rude things to both of them in my mind.

Happy Holidays also works when people are going away on vacation!
For those of a different religion, I try to learn the "correct" phrase to use!

I celebrate Festivus! Less commercialization and the true meaning is not lost on those who celebrate.
