EJ seemed to have this mad idea on the beeb coverage that this was a precursor to Newey going back to McLaren... dunno about that, but Jordan does somehow seem to call things that seem absurd.

Rising number one of Formula 1, Juan - Juan, one wonders should Juan only win one Formula 1 one year, would Juan have won that one in round one, Juan??

He never went to Jaguar...he was about to but RD blocked it somehow. Newey was always seen as a 'trapped kitty' in the McLaren garage since then....until he made his escape to Redbull. Can't recall him ever saying he wanted to finish his career at McLaren, he was always talking about going to sailing boats and designing boats and what not. Sounded quite depressing at the time really. :hehe:
