BMW Sauber paid tribute to the retirement-bound Michael Schumacher by carrying a special valedictory message on its rear wings at Interlagos on Friday.

All three of the team’s cars were inscribed with large blue lettering reading ‘Thanks Michael’, which in the afternoon session had been translated into the German’s native tongue: ‘Danke Michael’.

“The most successful driver of all time is retiring, he did a lot for the sport and because of him, especially in Germany, F1 is very popular,” explained BMW motorsport boss Mario Theissen.

“But there was something different in practice, and it was very nice'' said Schumacher .

“It was the message from BMW and I would like to thank them for the message.”

Yeah you'd have to say that was a nice gesture. :)
