i was just reasoning about the last race in Brazil...don't know how much could interest this, but if Schumiwill be the champion, he will have beaten another record: the shortest gap between the first and the second, this record is held now by Lauda-Prost with a gap of 0.5 points in the '84 season...

Ain't gonna happen, but yes, it would be true.

I've also thought about the statistics. If Schumacher wins in Brazil, he'll have won 8 races this season to alonso's 7.
So if he wins the race, but ends up second in the championship, will this be the first time in F1 history that a driver wins 8 races in a season without being crowned champion? i think it could be a record.

I would have to check on that, but just to add to this: Keke Rosberg won his title in 1982 with one single GP win!

Okay, just a quick check: yes, that would be a record!
The following drivers had 7 wins in a season w/o clinching the title:
Jim Clark 1963 (3rd)
AP 1984 and 1988 (2nd both times)
KR 2005 (2nd)

Wow, i thought so. That fact alone now makes me want to see Schumi win the last race! that would be another bit of F1 history in the making.
