Red Bull confirms switch to Honda power for 2019

"Red Bull will use Honda power from the 2019 F1 season, the team has confirmed.

The team will ends its association with Renault, whose engines powered it to four consecutive constructors’ championship titles from 2010 to 2013.

Its new deal with Honda covers the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Team principal Christian Horner described it as “the start of an exciting new phase in Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s efforts to compete not just for grand prix wins but for what is always our goal – championship titles.”
“We have always taken decisions such as this dispassionately and with only one criteria in mind – do we believe the outcome will allow us to compete at a higher level. After careful consideration and evaluation we are certain this partnership with Honda is the right direction for the team.”"

I think McLaren have really lost their way without Ron Dennis. Honda seem to be on the rise while Renault have not provided any "Magic Bullet".

McLaren/Dennis was Honda's problem. Remember Dennis's 'size 0'.

Without them Honda are on the rise.

Ron Dennis is complicit in the downfall of McLaren, remember, it was Dennis that brought Honda in, ditching the class-leading Mercedes PU in the process.

As for Red Bull, I wonder how much this decision was forced by Renault's insistence on a near future decision? Is it the right decision, who knows, it seems to me that since STR switched they have fallen back down the grid, but reliability has been much improved. As the old saying goes, to finish first, first you have to finish, which has been an issue for Honda during their tenure with McLaren.
