The strategy put Alonso back in the grid,he still had 40+ laps to put a race together! We have seen plenty of times (comebacks)

Alonso still choked imo!

ps
I know the renault was faster in the straights, the track is bad for passing, etc, etc

he still chocked!

So you think it was reasonable to expect him to pass Kubica? Here's another argument that it wasn't that you missed, Hamilton followed Kubica, Hamilton's Mclaren was faster than the Ferrari, this was also when Kubica had older tyres on then Petrov did when Alonso first came up behind him.

Please dont feed the trolls.

Didn't deserve it's own thread, just too much of this opinion stuff so I'm adding to the pile. I guess in his own way, he's just saying there's only one way to go.

France has hit rock bottom, says Prost
10 December 2010

Four-time F1 World Champion Alain Prost believes France has become a ‘little auto-phobic’ and he believes Renault’s decision to completely sell it Formula One team this week is the final nail in the coffin for the country.

Prost is dismayed by the current state of affairs, but remains hopeful now something will be done to turn things around.

“There is a sense of defeatism. But these are the facts. France has hit the bottom,” he told Auto Hebdo. “However that is not always bad. One has to be realistic, but also optimistic. People realise that this is not a good thing for an automobile country like France. There will perhaps be measures or strategies put in place to return things to normal and possibly in a way that is more solid than the past.

“It is though extremely difficult at the moment. The country is a little auto-phobic. The companies and manufacturers no longer want to invest in F1. The fact there is no French Grand Prix is one thing. But the fact there is no French drivers is quite another. That is what brings in the fans and is what interests’ people in the sport.

“For me though, it is not a surprise what has happened. Now we must do things differently,” he summed-up.

Monaco/Monte Carlo is practically a French arrondissement (it aligns its international policy with French political, military and economic interests with its defense being the responsibility of the French military). So, a French GP would not be such a high priority in my view.

Surely the key is in the emotion, do people in France see the Monaco gp in a similar way to how British f1 fans (in general) see the British Gp?

More like the Italians viewed the GP of San Marino

Jules Bianchi isn't too far of an f1 seat, and Todt has made moves towards a French Gp I think.

I was gonna say, bianchi looks to be the best thing close to f1, maybe that stereotypical arrogant french thing is playinhng on his mind ;) surely italy shiuld be nearly as annoyed, havent had a driver champion fir near 60 years! but they do have ferraza and a home gp.

F1 is rife with nationalism, there's nothing wrong with that, it's why Telmex is plunking millions in sponsorship for Sergio Perez next year, why Petrov had a ride and there's no interest in a Russian GP. I do believe that Renault would have been happy to stay in the business if there was an exciting French driver on the grid.
