Introduce yourself, go on, don't be shy!

So what's up everyone?

Actually I woud like some of your help if possible, and doing so without introducing myself would be rude I believe.

So I'm Rej(yes, a nickname) and I am a F1 fan. (having to sign up cause of my project has shocked me really, can't figure out why I haven't done so so long ago... , maybe cause I hadn't thought it through..)
Anyway, not really a team's fan I would say, since my preferences change every few years..maybe cause some teams don't last long enough
So more of a pilot follower..and who are those? In no particular order, I support Webber, Button, Sutil and Kobayashi.
I don't know what else..you can always ask :P

So back to my thing :P
I'm doing a master and my project is about online branding if I can put it in general terms. And to the practical part of the project, I thought of doing an Audi F1 website. And to begin with, I must do some user research and this is where you guys come in :D
I would like to ask some questions if possible, so I can figure out a "type" of users and the behaviours/opinions towards some things.

That's all, for now. :wavey:

redbull - too slow to load
mclaren - messier than I imagined the corperate image to be
ferrari - background image makes it look like a computer game site
Merc - Nice, but a bit blog like
Renault - Best so far, a bit bloggy but the title screen is better than the merc
Torro Rosso - big blobs of white are not ver corperate image.
Force India - I like it, corperate imaginging, and a lot of nice touchs.
Sauber - Shallow, I could of made that up about an F1 team and made the site
Williams - sound on a website :-(
Lotus - Like it
Virgin - Like it, but not sure of the big images for each story

05.Do you go to their F1 site?

Yes, I am a member. 8-)

06.If yes, how often?
Once a week

07.What are the reasons of using it?

To get deals on merchandise, to feel part of the team, to chat to other McLaren fans on the forum there, to have a go at the competitions I never win.....

08.What do you expect to do/find in a F1 website?(really anything you may think, there is no bad answer :P)

A professional, neat, attractive layout that is easy to navigate. A place for the fans, with a forum and places to acquire team kit / merchandise. Some damn fine pictures of the cars should be on there too! A news section should be there, obviously. Detailed race weekend analysis too, to the keep the teams' fans informed of what is expected to happen, and why the things the happened did happen.

09.Can you go to some of these sites and tell me some positives/negatives you may find?

Red Bull: Attractive, nicely laid out website. Multimedia section is good. Nice section for the fans... liking the fact they can upload pictures and have a nice profile for themselves.

McLaren: Apart from the McLaren Home page @ mclaren.com, which is new, the website feels a bit messy and outdated. Great fans section, with a good forum, but the website as a whole feels a little shabby and could do with a bit of classy modernisation.

Ferrari: Homepage feels a little crowded, but everything is there and easy to find. Not the greatest of designs, but by no means poor.

Mercedes: Not as slick as I thought it would be. Homepage left me wondering what to do first. Didn't like the total shutting off of the fans section until signing up... what if I wanted to have a look around that bit before making that decision? People might find out more about what they get for their money before committing.

Lotus Renault: Top menu is fiddly and awkward to use because the drop downs are too small. Fan map is interesting. Many places around the world seem to have a very precise 136 fans.... spooky.... Not the easiest of websites on the eye, but there's plenty to do.

Toro Rosso: Well it's the same as Red Bull's. And it's therefore good.

Force India: The outdated countdown to the Indian GP is going crazy. Not the most inspiring of websites. The fans section doesn't necessarily urge me to join either.

Sauber: Neat, slick and straight to the point. Good website. Everything is easy to find and clear. Was looking forward to becoming a fan, until the fan's community sign-up page was only written in German. Thank f**k for Google Chrome Translator!

Williams: I expected a great website, and that is what I got. Williams have always been great with the fans. The video that automatically plays on loading the homepage wasn't as intruding as I thought, but then again, I don't bring the website up regularly. Great fans sections, with lots to do, and the polls look great.

Lotus (soon to be Caterham): Another team that's brilliant with fans. Be a commentator for a weekend??? YES PLEASE!! Very attractive website, and this makes it worth looking closely and having a poke around, which you need to do, because the homepage is quite busy at first glance.

Virgin: I like the pictures-for-links to the articles that greet you when you first encounter the website. Very slick and very easy to navigate. Nothing other than newsletters and a shop for fans, but the again, given how young (and unsuccessful) they are, they probably don't need anything else.

Hispania: Website immediately needs translating, and even that doesn't work properly (not with Chrome's translator anyway). Well that's what I found. It's not the messiest website, but still feels quite tacky and uninspiring.

Best websites in my opinion were Red Bull / Toro Rosso, Williams and Virgin.

He's an actor. We all know how much that lot like a bit of drama and he's created some drama here by hinting at joining the cool young team rather than sticking with the old gaurd. :hehe:
