Jamie whincup is on top of the standings again after a great performance in the 2 weekend gold coast 600 races

Yeah and his driver partner Sebastien Bordais got the Dan Wheldon memorial trophy, (For those who don't know as a lot of the international drivers were from IRL the trophy was implemented by V8SC as a sign of respect) Seb was pretty emotional when receiving it. :(

Yeah, it was a good gesture from V8 Supercars to rename the trophy....

Same here, well done V8SC

As for the Racing side of things, especially the Sunday race, they have to sort out this curb hopping and cutting the chicane problems at the Gold Coast. It was really starting to look silly there. And also the circiut is crap too, The Indy layout was better.

Yep. congrats to Whincup, he deserved it, He was untouchable at some of the races this year. Atleast Ford fans can't complain that Holden stole the number #1 like the last 2 years. As for the Sydney track, it sure throws up some action and seeing the cars getting air and on 2 wheels is cool to see.

Nissan will become the first manufacturer other than Ford or Holden to race in Australian touring cars in two decades when it joins V8 Supercars next year.

The deal, which is scheduled to be announced in Melbourne on Thursday morning, local time, will cover a four-car works entry run by Kelly Racing. Team owners Rick and Todd Kelly will drive two of the cars, with four-time Bathurst winner Greg Murphy and Karl Reindler completing the line-up.

Although the V8 Supercar era has been the sole domain of Holden and Ford up to this point, Nissan does have a pedigree in Australian motorsport. The Japanese manufacturer was one of the powerhouses of the final years of the Group A period, and Mark Skaife and Jim Richards claimed back-to-back Bathurst wins in 1991 and '92 at the wheel of a Skyline GTR.

I wonder what car hey will use to be based on? GTR would be out as its not a sedan, maybe a Skyline even though hey are not sold here, most likely a Maxima.

This is good news I am sure some bogans won't be happy :hehe:

Wow, didn't see that coming. I was expecting something like Toyota or a german make, Anyway that is great news. It would be nice to see the Skyline out there amongst the Holden/Ford cars but as you said Bud, most likely a Maxima. Hopefully more manufactures join up.

It would be god to see the GTR but that's not going to happen. Besides this is basically a spec series with same chassis and just different body panels. What ever car they choose as base won't have much in common with the showroom. Just as it is already with the Falcon and Commodores now.
