MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi has denied rumours that he might be switching from two wheels to four.
Rossi has recently been testing a 2008 F1 car as a reward for winning his sixth MotoGP title. He has also tested for the team twice previously.
Team principal Stefano Domenicali has added fuel to the fire by hinting that if Ferrari were allowed to run three cars, Rossi might be given a race seat.
Rossi’s test sessions have shown him to be an extremely capable driver – on Thursday’s test, he managed to lap quicker than the best time at the 2009 Spanish Grand Prix despite having to run on GP2 tyres.
However the MotoGP champion, whose contract with Yamaha runs out at the end of this season, has been quick to play down reports of a switch to Formula One.
“When I could come to F1, I will be too old,” Rossi commented. “There are wonderful drivers there. I’m fine in my world, which is bikes. This is just a diversion, some fun, and I am grateful to everybody for the opportunity.”
