2013’s inaugural New York F1 race has been postponed to 2014.
Recently there have been doubts about whether the track would be ready in time to host it’s first Formula One race in June 2013. According to the Jersey Journal both preparations for the race and obtaining the necessary permits are both behind schedule.
Bernie Ecclestone has now confirmed to Eurosport that the race has been postponed a year to 2014.
“It is not going to happen next year,” Ecclestone commented. “If they came up with the contract with us and we were satisfied the question is could they carry out the work in six months? Winter in New York is not good.”
Although there are rumours that the Turkey could step in to fill the gap on the calendar,there is no confirmation as to whether the ‘Grand Prix of America’, which was scheduled to take place on June 16th, will be replaced or whether the F1 calendar will drop to just 19 events.
