Giancarlo FisichellaGiancarlo Fisichella has confirmed that he was not hurt in his high speed crash yesterday. Talking to Forumula1.com, Fisi confirmed, “I’m OK, I’m fine.”

The Italian was testing some upgrades for the current Force India car at Silverstone when he ran wide at the high speed corner Becketts before slamming into the barriers. “I wasn’t hurt at all,” Fisichella said. “But I did not take my hands off the wheel and they had to do some checks to make sure my wrist was OK.”

Fisichella was taken to hospital as a precaution but has now confirmed that he sustained no injuries during the shunt. Unfortunately the same could not be said of his car which suffered extensive damage.

“Unfortunately some of the new components were damaged,” Force India technical boss Mike Gascoyne explained.
