The driver shuffle begins

With the news that Alonso is heading to Renault for next season, driver rumours are going into overdrive.

It appears that former Renault driver Heikki Kovalainen is either on his way to McLaren or Toyota with it unlikely that the rookie driver will not win a race-seat after a good first season in the sport. Although Toyota have brought in Timo Glock to their second seat, with Jarno Trulli already contracted for the first race-seat, it is believed that the team would move Trulli to the side to make way for the young Finn.

It looks like Kovalainen s former team-mate at Renault will not be his team-mate any longer Fisichella is leading the chase for the remaining seat at Force India alongside Adrian Sutil and it seems unlikely that Kovalainen and Fisichella will end up in the same teams. Fisichella s race-seat is not safe or confirmed with Christian Klien, Tonio Liuzzi and Ralf Schumacher all also looking to secure the second seat at the newly renamed team.

Force India co-owner Vijay Mallya has said that the team will decide their 2008 line-up before Christmas and that it will balance talent with experience’, although they won t be announcing the driver line-up until the new year. Mallya is looking at who will he will offer the second seat at the team to over the next two weeks.

“I will decide who we sign,” he said in an interview with British newspaper The Mail on Sunday. “I need to balance talent with experience and I need to find out how the engineers feel on driver feedback. I ll decide before Christmas but there won t be an announcement until the new year.”
