GPDA expected to meet in Fuji

The Grand Prix Drivers Association (GPDA) are expected to meet in Fuji to discuss whether any changes the current directors need to be made.

After a meeting in China last season, Ralf Schumacher, Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber were voted onto the board. Discussions over the ratification of next year s directors are set to take place next weekend when the Formula 1 circuit hits Japan.

Many GPDA members are hoping that some of the younger Formula 1 drivers will be prepared to step up and become a director. Webber has also said he believes it is vital for Fernando Alonso to continue as a director.

“He is a current world champion and potentially the world champion again this year, so it is good to have someone that has been in the sport a while,” Webber explained. “It would be nice to have a young guy as well but they have been good in meetings anyway. At the end of the day it is just a bit of a paper trail and homework between races. As long as we get their input at Grands Prix, that is enough for us. We will also have to see what Ralf does next year. We may have to do some changes if Ralf isn’t driving in F1.”
