Ferrari and Mercedes will test at the former French grand prix venue at Magny Cours in mid September.

Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport said the circuit is one of no fewer than three venues selected by F1 teams to complete their allowed days of ‘young driver’ running in 2012. Ferrari has only just scraped into the top-15 in a list of the world’s most valuable sports teams.

Forbes magazine said English football club Manchester United tops the list with an estimated worth of $2.23 billion, ahead of Real Madrid and then a roll-call of American football teams. Felipe Massa insists there will be “no reason” to leave Ferrari if he keeps up his improved form in 2012.
